93:20 Podcast

It's not awful but not great either. Although better than noisy neighbours..that's gone right down the pan .

Noisy neighbours is good! The adverts for random American pubs half way can get a bit annoying though.

No, I don’t want to go for a pint with fellow soccerball fans in the Bert Arms on Maine St in downtown Bumfuckville Arkensas, get on with the podcast lads

93:20 review: Pep Bawl. 10.02.25

Howard and Adam Monk on this one to discuss the RM play off loss.

I'll make my apologies for this post now but i pays my monies so i have the right to say it as i see (or heard) it.

What should have been an interesting hour spent with a really good guest (Adam) quickly degraded into an emotional and frustrating monologist rant from the host who out did himself in his usual interview technique of asking a question, answering himself and going off on a tangent all the while the guest is left derping in the background and hanging on to the question originally asked in a vane hope of getting a word in edgeways.

The idea of having a guest on a show is to give them the platform to speak and for the host to listen, encourage and direct.

I felt quite embarrassed for Adam at times. He even apologised to howard at one point for interrupting him mid rant to try and have a go at answering or responding to the points in-between Howards bizarrely infrequent pauses for breath. The man must breath through his shoes.

When Adam was able to wrestle the mic away from Howard, he began to make great points.......only for Howard to rail road them on his own personal journey to inner salvation.

Which is a shame because had Howard just dialled the hearing aid up a notch or two, and laid off the double espresso's before hand, there was scope for an excellent pod as both are clearly knowledgeable about the subject.

So to Howard, after the caffeine rush has subsided and you've replaced the batteries in your hearing aid, go and listen (you can do it) to the pod and put yourself in the shoes of the guest who you've had on to allegedly listen to, and the listener who's trying not get wound up on behalf of the guest whom they would like to hear from.

3/10. Must try harder.
I have to agree here , I’m constantly shouting at Howard to let someone answer the bloody question he’s trying to ask !

He’s much better as a guest than a host

I think Ste and Ahsan are the best hosts overall , they ask the question and let the guest answer it

Ahsan often goes off on a rant sometimes but I don’t usually mind as he makes some good points , except when talking about Alvarez last season, for some reason he didn’t rate a player who had 30 g/a , bizarre take.

Haven't done a review for a bit so here we go.....

Half-Half/Pilgrims/Round up 05.03.25

I wasn't going to do another review in the short term, but the 3 podcasts noted above had me thinking and I came to the conclusion that I needed to do something to give feedback on comments made previously.
These are not really reviews here tbh, let's call them observations.

Regarding Half -Half.
A post spurs review with Howard hosting and guests Ben and Lloyd.
Great podcast. Well scripted, well chaired and good, in depth discussion from both Ben and Lloyd regarding the match.
Nice to hear some healthy disagreements as well. It's a sign of the maturity of the show and the presenters that open opinion and disagreement is not discouraged. It adds validity to it all.
Hats off to Howard in particular. I dunno if he reads the shite I put in this thread but he nailed the chair here. His agenda, management and stearing of the episode was spot on. Great guests helped as well. 8/10. Super.

Regarding Pilgrims.
Post Spuds-pre Plymouth pod with Ste hosting and Adam and George as the guests.
Listening to this, I had the thought that whilst Howard probably does these because it tickles his two main passions (Talking and MCFC), for Ste, it's a bit more serious. I get the feeling he's trying to build up his MCFC media portfolio, he's using the pod to develop his skillset and exposure. It's work, not a hobby. I could be wrong and it's not meant as a disservice to him or his efforts. I really like the differences each chair brings to their respective pods. Ste has a broader view of football to talk about than the purer MCFC mindsets the others have and it works very well, especially so for the domestic competitions. He excels in the overview.
He chaired this pod brilliantly. More focused and purposeful than other chairs. I do wonder how much effort he puts into the agenda. I imagine it's important to him. He's in his element hosting where the guests are the stars. Again, as per Half-Half, you could sense the pencil had been sharpened. 8/10 super.

Regarding Round up
General discussion between Howard and Ste.
No obvious chairing needed on this pod. It was a simple low brow look at the Plymouth win with a spot of shaudenfraud for utd.
Nothing much to report on this one. Both presenters relaxed a little and it was far less formal or serious as others pods, as was it's intention. 6/10 Ok.
However,
A few things did pop up that caught my ear.
Firstly, Ste brought up some stats regarding the performance of Reilly. Yes, the eye test gave him MOTM but Ste's Stat-attack noted differently. I found that really insightful and would love to hear more of same when discussing particular player performances. Not that the lads don't note the odd stat in general discussion, but a pointed, targeting of a player's stats would really add interest. Imho anyways.
Secondly, the two lads talked about the guests and Howard's news letters joking that nobody reads them. That caught my ear as well because I have to fumble around the website trying to find the subscription page every month. I can never find anything on it. Even less so now that they've abandoned putting podcasts on it.
This had me thinking, I'd really like to know properly who's on the pod, what they do and what bio they have. A rogues gallery if you will, with links and a brief description. Who the fuck are Adam, Ste, Howard, er, Ben, Stephan (remember him?) anyway. Whilst we are at that, put up the news letter in clear links.
The website could do so much more tbh. No merch or anything.
The pod is a media hub for the people who are involved. The web site should be similar.
Finally, comment was made about the club now having only one game per week and the benefit that should give to the players for the remaining games in terms of having a breather.
Does this apply to the pod as well? I would think so. The guys have time now to polish up the episodes, have guests on at their convenience rather than in a rush. As the games diminish, I'll have more time to indulge in the bonus pods they do, such as the opposite views, 1884, fan opinions, soapboxings, etc.

Anyway, that's it for now.

The Weekend review: All to play for, 07.03.25.

Lloyd hosting (!), Chris and George as guests.

Go have a listen for yourself (Weekend shows are free)

Probably the best in-depth episode about city I've heard from any show for some time.

The production is fantastic. The agenda and chairing top notch.

3 proper knowledgeable and quality speakers as well.

10/10.

Just a quick comment on the most recent podcast regarding the internationals.

Excellent work. Not everyone has a huge fucking downer on international games and it was great to hear some decent analysis of our (England's) last two.
Really enjoyed it and would like this to be a regular feature.

I think @benmckean has been a great addition to the show.

Well spoken, articulate and intelligent. Knows his footy.

Great find.

Was listening to the Everton review whilst walking the dog and for the million time this season, Ashan and Lloyd were going at it over Pep and his actions, choices, selection , behaviour, etc.

Ashan is a huge Pep fan but there is a dichotomy here for him I think.
That dichotomy is only satisfied by Pep winning.

It must drive him nuts.

I'm wanting to subscribe to listen to this podcast. I've got it on my Spotify list but I can't seem to sign up to listen to the full episodes (only 16 minute ones available)

This might be really obvious but how to I subscribe to the podcast so I can listen to full episodes?

Spotify is shite.

When I subscribed - a few years ago now - I think you just got an RSS feed that you can whack into any podcast app (I use Apple Podcasts).

Has worked flawlessly since.

The Review: Final Chapter.
Stephan Tudor & Ashan Naseem.

The podcast seems to be evolving somewhat. I feels like the team are begining to curate teamwork, parings & match ups more carefully these days. For critical reviews, the emphasis seems to be moving to a more intimate and serious Smith and Jones format (remember them?!). For casual stuff, a more group/ pub style format seems to be prefered.
Perhaps i am wrong but i like it. It works really well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this pod. Ste and Ashan paired really well together. Surprisingly so as its Mr serious vs Mr Casual. They did a great Job. One of my fav pods for a while.
You also got a sniff of the work that goes on in the background to these pods. I like that as well, Ashan gave up his Monday night to watch the match because he was pencilled in for the review. Sometimes you can be forgiven for thinking these things are just a few lads chatting shit on the internet.
Far from it.

I do enjoy the dichotomy of Ashan when it comes to Pep. He loves the bloke and hates the bloke in equal measures. Pep fustrates the shit out of him with his squad management whilst (usually) proving after the match that his methods have a validty. It's fun to hear Ashan fighting with the contradictions.

Well done to Lloyd for the gig btw.
Tough shit Ste', maybe next time ;-)

The podcast was always supposed to be by and for fans. The fact that you compare us to people you go to the pub with, is actually a compliment.
There's some podcasts out there that has people who are using the platform to try and become journalists or influencers or whatever. That's not what 9320 is. There's journalists and influencers on there because it might be an interesting conversation and through the podcast, Ahsan essentially now knows every major media figure connected to City, but this isn't his job. Howard used to work in a Job Centre. Ahsan is a TV and movie scriptwriter. Lloyd is a media lawyer. Ste is a writer.
The reason people listen and subscribe is because they can listen to the lads with a bit of nouse and connection in the pub talk about City on their way to work or while out for a jog, instead of listening to TalkSport or podcasts by journalists who despise us and are looking for ways to criticise us constantly. And in fact sometimes those people will come on and front up and be taken to task.
It's a bunch of matchgoing and obsessive Blues providing alternative radio. Listeners range from 40 year tenured season ticket holders to ex-pats who want a slice of Manchester to teenagers in the US who played us on FIFA. But it's ours. Mine and yours and every other long term City fan who doesn't want to hear Glendennig or Simon Jordan talk uninformed shit about us and instead wants to listen to passionate and informed Blues talk about the match.
I have a young brother as my Dad remarried. Hes in Uni now down South. After every match, he calls me. Rain or shine, within 5 mins of the match ending, he's on the phone. And we talk about what we've just seen, who played like what, where transfers are at, latest news and gossip etc for a good 30 to 60 mins.
I'm probably not giving anything away by telling you that, when I'm not wrangling the servers on Bluemoon, I've worked in football vaguely consistently for around 20 years as a side career and have coached more than a few people who became really decent pros. But that's not why my brother calls me. He isn't interested in my qualifications, he calls me because he wants to hear opinions of other Blues to see how it matches up with his. He wants to listen to people with a different perspective than him. Sometimes he wants someone to verbalise his anger in an act of catharsis, sometimes he wants to know others are incredulous at the ref decision and he's not going mad, others he wants to share the joy and listen to people as happy and excited as he is because it gives you a feeling of community.
That's essentially all the podcast is. I'm sure you and everyone else has a lot of friends, but how many of them are obsessive about City? How many times are you speaking to a mate or the missus and you realise that you're banging on about City for 20 minutes and they don't care like you care? The podcast lads do. And they feel the same emotions, go through the same ups and downs and share in your frustration and joys. To many people, they're not fortunate enough to be able to have others like that. There isn't a group of 10 lads all passionate City fans waiting at the local for them to talk about Gundogan's out of possession positioning with. But, some people know that as they're going for a jog or going to work or doing the dishes, they can listen to a few lads who are just as passionate as they are, talk about the things they want to hear about.
That's all the podcast IS. Alternative radio for City fans in a world that hates us, by other City fans. That's all it ever tries to be.
I'm not on the in 9320 payroll nor on Bluemoon's but I'm proud to be associated with both, because I believe both to be extensions of my community.
There's many podcasts out there but this one belongs to us. No sponsorship, no pseudo journalists trying to boost their CV, no like, subscribe, and ding the bell. Just US, people like you and me, talking about City, every day.
I look at the City podcasts - 93:20, Noisy Neighbors, Blue Moon, Let Me Talk - much as I did the fanzines in the 80s and 90s.

I listen (and subscribe) to them all. They make my commute, walking the dog,
going for a run or driving to and from City matches, much more enjoyable.

I’m really enjoying Howard’s 19 opposition preview pods at the moment.

Ste Tudor’s obsession with Liverpool is slightly unnerving. He needs therapy. <Only half joking>

Did you sort this?

You need to sign up - see here for instructions

I listen via Apple Podcasts. I’m not sure what you need to do on Android.

Howard’s obviously a top man.

But his mispronunciation of the word ‘mipronunciation’ makes me laugh.

He always says mispronOUNCEiatuon rather than mispronUNciation
