Match discussion (WFAC) - Birmingham City v City - Monday 6th April KO 17:00 (TNT)

Birmingham are currently playing Sunderland on the WSL2. If they win they go top. They are the highest scorers in the league. They are a competent looking team. I am sure we won't be I hope we don't go into the game with the expectation that we will win even with the minimum of effort. Anyway it is on YouTube if you want to watch.

No reason not to go really strong and I think Jeglertz will. Maybe rest anyone with knocks like Viv but starts or at least game time for Fowler, Beney, Clinton, Lohman and Kerolin. All top internationals. Maybe some game time for experience like Coombes too, with the heavyweights on the bench if it goes tits up early doors.

Too many changes and it might break the rhythm the girls have built up so id like to see the same back 4 but I expect Keating will get a run out too. Hempo and Bunny are both in great form so leave them in and then rest them after an hour if all goes well.

With the Arse going out there's a pot up for grabs here and we know we have the beating of this years Chelsea.

Are the semis a neutral venue?

Show the right attitude and application and it should be no problem. Not and it'll be touch and go like the Newcastle game earlier in the season where we scraped through on penalties.

Come on the City girls there's a league and Cup double beckoning!

Agreed. There's no reason not to go for this. Internationals next (assume our Asian cup girls get a rest?), so apart from resting Viv we should go all out to win this as quickly as possible.

Andrée Jeglertz has revealed that Naomi Layzell, Laura Wienroither and Grace Clinton are all making good progress but that the trio remain unavailable for Easter Monday’s FA Cup quarter-final trip to Birmingham.

Clinton has been recovering from a minor lower body problem whist Layzell (hip) and Wienroither (ankle) are also making good progress too.

Viv not definitely ruled out but is being monitored after pulling out of the upcoming internationals.

Hmmm...seems a bit weird that she might play today but won't be able to play later
Think the Netherlands manager agreed not to call her up to give her rest as she is managing an existing knee problem which she usually has taped up while playing. Wouldn't be a surprise if she didn't play today though. It's not like we don't have options with both Kerolin & Fowler able to come into the starting lineup.

LBB did not celebrate the winning penalty (which I liked), a sign of guilt. Not for the girl particularly, but the whole team. I was pissed for days, thought we had left such shit behind us (occurred consistently under the previous regime), hopefully the lesson has been learnt...

We are in a terrific position to finish strong and fight for everything available. But without the appropriate mental preparation, things can become complicated in football. I have full confidence in the team, it starts with the right mindset though. Good luck to the manager and the girls, come on City!
