Introducing The Citizens Trust - Manchester City Supporters' Union

Happy to sign up and pay a fiver but not keen on paying by direct debit (largely because I forget I've set one up), which seems to be the only option. Anyone figured out if you can pay by credit card? Am i missing something?

You'll receive a notification in 11 months times asking you to renew. If you don't click to confirm then it won't renew automatically.

So what does the membership fees cover. It might be only a £5 but that becomes a huge sum, if it gets anywhere near the number of bluemoon members

The money will initially go towards covering the setting up costs and the on going running costs including organising transparent, democratic elections (with third party monitoring). However, the long term plan will be to use any funds left over to fund initiatives proposed by members. We hope not to be sitting on a large amount of cash, instead members will be encouraged to propose ideas for how we might improve the match day experience or the local community more generally. The membership will then be asked to vote in favour, and where there's enough support, the money will be used to help members make their plans a reality.

It is worth adding that the Interim Board have all paid their membership fees. Some members of the Interim Board have even used their own money to cover operating costs to date.

First I’ve heard of this. I might leave it until the off-season until I’ve heard/read a bit more before joining, but having a proper Supporters Trust is something that is long overdue within our fanbase. Hopefully, it can act like the Spirit of Shankley trust at Liverpool which has worked very well for a long time there.

I like the name and the logo, by the way!
Spirit of shankly seem like a great benchmark to follow. They genuinely stick up for supporters and do a lot of good work.

I wonder what the official supporters club think about this? I always used to think they would be the ones to do this

Mate what would it matter what the Osc think ? They’ve not tweeted anything supportive but of course that’s whoever is on the account… not the membership. The membership is ordinary blues who can all join the trust- why would the Osc organise a supporters trust they are not independent of the football club

They are a major city fan group and will probably have to work with the trust. I just thought it would be interesting to see what they think, if that’s alright?

Other groups have shared there thoughts as well. I didn’t say set up a trust either - just be more active in some of the things that groups like the 1894 do and hopefully this trust. I don’t want to de rail the thread. So I’ll leave it.

Thank you for the information

The key for me is to get the Chairman onboard and involved. We won't achieve anything without his commitment.
