45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

I know I’ve been giddy about this lad from day one but I genuinely think there’s an argument for pound for pound, he’s been our best signing for several years and has the potential to be a Kompany level signing. Spectacular scouting and whoever identified him deserves a massive raise. What a fucking guy.

Not saying he will end up reaching that ceiling of course but the potential is there. His ceiling is as high if not higher than any defender I’ve seen play for us. He’s a generational talent.

Can see why we desperately wanted to get this signing done and brought him in when perhaps we could have waited till the summer. Has superstar potential.

He's a joy to watch in everything that he does.

You can see he's beginning to settle now. Look at his reaction to the Donnarumma save, smacking his arse, and then his reaction to the away fans at the end of the game.

And to think, there is undoubtedly much more to come from him.

Agree about his passing today. Never seen him switch it as much as he did today. At least three that I can remember.

Guehi has a good ability to as well. And Josko when he’s back.

City shouldn’t have to sniff for a cb for years.

Come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks, I know he's been solid enough all season but in the last 2 months something has changed, assume it must be his confidence.
Rock solid at the back and distribution markedly improved, just looks like he belongs back there now.

100% - now he's settled I think we will see him try more of those long cross field passes and even shots at goal. His passing is something that is coming on no end and like other parts of his game is underrated because some in the media threw him under the bus for one bad mistake. The one long pass to Semenyo cut out half the Chelsea team yesterday. Seems such a humble, likeable guy too.

I genuinely sit there sometimes and think to myself "are we overrating this lad a bit too much". But when you watch him week in week out, we are just saying what we see.

He's a frightening player and a real fan favourite. His smile yesterday was great to see, a player who's a breath of fresh air for this Club. A kid that's come from the other side of the world and is here to learn, adapt and be a better player/human every day. I bet he's a managers dream and it's why the fanbase is in love with the lad.

His attributes are scary, but his mentality and attitude come across as absolutely impeccable, and ultimately that's what will take him to the top of the Football World.

I love Ruben Dias, but at the moment you can't put him in the side above Khusanov. Khusanov has deserved his starting place. Love him. Him and Guehi's partnership looks something special.

His speed is a quality he can and should use more often to escape pressure.

He pushes the ball forward and, thanks to his speed, beats his opponent and gains a two-meter lead.

He’s getting better every game and turning very quickly into a top class defender. His many attributes are there to be seen but the key element that sets him above many others is his pace. He’s looks exceptionally quick even in a division full of super honed elite athletes. When you can now start adding the instincts that come with maturity and experience that comes with being a first team regular then you’ve got quite a package.

Having watched him play Lens in Ligue 1 quite a few times, he consistently displayed good footwork and distribution. It's only here in the forum that some people have invented a flaw in him, claiming he's poor at distributing the ball and his passing is bad—a choice I've always disputed.

Here's a brief summary of his performance last season (February 2025) against Tottenham, a few days after signing here,

enjoy his long passes
