45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Has to be mindful of challenges like the one with Havertz - felt like if the ref gives it, VAR doesn't overturn it (which is more an indictment of the officials than the defending). However, I fucking love him. So so good, still young and going to carry on developing

Yeah just needs to be careful as got on the wrong side for a split second. The back pass was sloppy too just when we were getting a head of steam. He was solid though and his partnership with Guehi seems to be flourishing.

Him and Guehi put so much hesitation in the press. They pass well enough that you have to close them down, but they’re so confident and quick carrying the ball that they take advantage of the space created by the press to dribble out and find an outlet.

Khusanov specifically is a black hole in defense. Attackers don’t actually have the space they think they have because he closes down so quickly that he doesn’t have to go to ground and lunge.

I didn't even notice him today - a good sign perhaps.

I noticed him have a good whack at goal which rebounded to Erling and he hit the post!

He can get into offensive positions for scoring too.

And I think he was in one when Bernardo put on the afterburners and cleared the counter attack which was on and then Khusanov went and hugged him!

Was just watching this and looking at Rodri and his body language just says he loves playing with Khusanov.

Infact it's more like when he sees Khuanov get behind him into the defensive position, Rodri starts moving away like "I know he'll handle it and I need to make room for his pass to me!"

Just adds so much to the team, some of it goes unnoticed. The chance Doku had second half came from Khus being lightning quick and forcing a turn over high up the pitch. His last man clearance first half from a dangerous ball in to Havertz....and on and on.

How about that whip he put on the ball for that cross? Really solid performance from Khus and looks like hes getting better each game.

Few hospital passes at the back, but other than that, just a brick wall in defence. Can't wait to see him develop as a long term option for us. He's fantastic.

Terrific again.

I thought that he started quite nervously, giving away that needless corner by over- hitting the back pass. But he soon got into gear and I like that fact that when he passes back he always makes a point of putting it wide of the posts. This was a basic we were all taught as kids, but not many players think about these days.

I hope he spends his entire career here.

Does he qualify for YPOTY?
I know he probably would be behind O Reilly but would be nice to see both shortlisted.

I watched ‘ref watch’ Jay Bothryod was saying Khusanov should have been sent off for bringing Havartz down - I’ve never heard so much shit in my entire life!

Here’s a question… how does Dias get back in the team? If it was my decision, he doesn’t get back in. Leave to the back 4 as it is.

Horses for courses. The last 15 minutes at Elland Road a few weeks ago for example there’s no one I’d want more than Dias, but there have been games this season when Khusanov’s pace has bailed us out.
