I've already said it's a personal decision (probably based on your personality type) whether you WANT (as opposed to being forced) to be a 'pet' for a political ideology. IF the Cuban government is so popular then it should be easy to arrange genuinely free elections and win? What are they scared of? Why don't they do it?

Here's a piece on that famous freedom fighter Vladimir Lenin (who turns out to be a complete twat and not much different to the Tsar).

Constituent Assembly in January 1918. After the Bolsheviks failed to win a majority in the November 1917 elections, Lenin declared that soviets (councils) were superior to parliament and used force to dismiss the assembly after its first meeting.

Emily Davison was a militant British suffragette who died after being struck by King George V’s horse, Anmer, at the Epsom Derby on June 4, 1913. She ran onto the track during the race, suffering a fractured skull and internal injuries, and died four days later.

She died to get the vote for women. Today, many women do not vote! Personal choice.

I want a vote, I want to state my opinion. I do NOT want an ideology, any ideology, telling me how to think and live. Many people have died fighting physical enslavement but these ideologies want to enslave people's mind and soul. They can fuck off.

Whats the justification for the blockade short of USA hoping they can make the lives of the ordinary Cuban so miserable they'll overthrow the current government in favour of one USA likes more.

He is already causing unnecessary problems for Cuba.

He kidnapped the Venezuelan leader who was supplying Cuba with oil. He has basically told the new leader of Venezuela that if she doesnt comply with US rules she'd be kidnapped as well. One of the rules is, dont supply Cuba with oil.
(He is also threatening Mexico who have said they cannot ignore the suffering of the innocents)

My support is not for Cuba, it is for the innocents suffering in Cuba because a paedophile rapists lust for power

Someone needs to impeach the fucker or the ICC charge him with war crimes.

I went to Cuba 15 years ago. It's a beautiful country and the people have a self confidence about them I've never seen anywhere else.

I was reading yesterday about how Cuba balances the books bearing in mind they have been the subject of American oppression nigh on 60 years.
Their excellent education system produces hundreds of doctors, especially specialists. These doctors then obtain employment in various countries in South America and a portion of their wages is given to the Cuban government. Despite restrictions/sanctions this system has worked well for years.
The fat orange idiot has put a stop to all that. All countries bar Mexico have agreed (fearing trumps anger) to cease this excellent agreement.

Ignore the effect on Cuba for a moment. It now means that hundreds of vital operations have been cancelled so, not only is trump hurting Cuba, he's hurting thousands of totally innocent people.

In the land of guns, can we not find one person who can kill this fucker ?

So, similar to Iran, it can be argued that it's citizens are not free. Now how important freedom is to you compared to safety is almost certainly a personal choice. For me, I would want democracy, freedom, others may be satisfied with life under an authoritarian regime (that they may or may not support). So if I was Cuban I would welcome regime change if it delivered democracy. i.e If I was Cuban I would not be interested in the rest of the world anguishing over whether my freedom was legal or not I would just want someone to do something, again, similar to many in Iran who want their fascist government overthrown.

If you were prepared to examine how Cuba actually functions rather than swallowing the sort of nonsense peddled by US interests, you might find that there is real community and workplace democracy in Cuba.

What people struggle to understand is that Cuba is not a liberal democracy like most Western countries. In Cuba there is a system of participatory democracy, with delegates elected in each neighbourhood. Contrary to what you say in the post I’ve quoted, the Communist Party doesn’t actually stand candidates in these elections.

Personally, I think there is far more genuine democracy in Cuba than in the US, where citizens get to choose every few years between two parties that are bought and paid for, and whose political programmes are totally dominated by the desires of, billionaires such as Musk, Thiel and the Koch brothers. It is government by and for the hyper-wealthy. It is an oligarchy.

I've never been but one of my lads has been twice on non commercial holidays, staying with locals etc. From what he says it doesn't seem to be this big evil regime we are told about.

I have two close relatives and a good mate who have been to Cuba and all three aren’t politically biased just to caveat it. Based on what they’ve told me about what the locals said, they would disagree with you. A lot of younger people were desperate to leave when my relatives went and that was a good few years ago now.

The biggest opponent to communism I’ve ever met was a Venezuelan who worked in my office at a previous employer. She’d rip your head off for defending it. I asked a few devil’s advocate questions in the pub and thought she was going to glass me.

it doesn’t mean blockading them and starving out innocent people is the answer. That’s an evil thing to do and Trump is evil as we all know.

In the late 1950's the CIA supplied Fidel Castro with money and guns.
In 1961 they started a trade embargo on the country which continued until trump enforced a blockade.
America wasn't bothered about communism, they were bothered about American businesses being stopped for stealing money from Cuba.

For me, I believe in democracy, a free press and judiciary, free elections, free speech, open debate, peaceful protest, liberty. That's not Cuba, Iran, China, Russia, North Korea, most of the Middle East etc. I believe in giving people the choice to live as they wish not as they are told.

Further to that, very few, if any central or south American countries are free. ALL are affected by North America and have been for decades. ALL know that if they act in their own interests and not those of the US, they will be subjected to CIA back insurgents, sanctions and kidnapping.
Trump is merely following a hundred years of 'owning' central/south america.
