26 | Savinho - 2025/26

Don’t kill me but he may be Jesus Navas.

By that I mean useless as an attacker but could still have a spot…

Navas worked tremendously hard defensively to make up for his lack of end product up top.

I can never see Savinho reaching that level.

He really needs to score more goals to at least get more opportunities. His goal return is terrible.

With him, it’s very simple. If he scores in the final – or even the goal that wins us the title – ABSOLUTELY everyone will change their tune; we know how football fans work. Savinho is an excellent footballer who isn’t afraid to take responsibility by dribbling or cutting inside, but who is currently struggling to find the net. A certain Vinicius suffered from the same problem at Real Madrid and was torn to shreds by his supporters before turning the situation around. I’m not worried about Savinho at all. I’m never worried about footballers who take risks. Football-wise, I prefer him a thousand times over to a Semenyo or a Marmousch.
Savinho has 1 PL goal in 49 appearances. Savinho is 22, Vini at 22 was hitting double digit goals and assists in the league. If Savinho scores in the final, of course we'd be glad but it doesn't change the overall issue.

Yeah that’s a great point for the Foden haters innit. Difference is that Foden has a pair of bollox and has won huge games for us. What has this **** done? Go on…
I'm not a foden hater but his performances have been poor for a while know yes he won big games for us .But this is a performance related business he's in his last 12 months of his contract on £225000 a week he's nearly 26 when did he last win us a huge game ? should we give him a 5 year contract and payrise because he used to win us big games ? whatever you think of savinho when he came on he played better and had more of an impact than phil i feel terrible writing this but we can all see it

You should feel terrible implying you’d rather have Savinho than Foden. It’s a terrible opinion and one that will come back and bite you on the arse

At the age of 19, Savinho scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 41 matches for Girona in Spain.

He doesn’t have a problem with finishing or talent; he has a mental issue.

I hope your right nothing would please me more i don't know whats wrong with phil if its a personel problem or a mental health problem but i think we all hope he gets help and gets back to being the player we all remember

He absolutely has a problem with finishing, there's very little behind his shots. In two seasons, we've yet to see a left footed winger cut back on his left and score.

He has a problem with finishing at MANCHESTER CITY. He didn’t have that problem at Girona. I’ve already explained in another post that his problem is a mental one. At Girona, the team played for him; he was the star and his confidence was sky-high. At City, he is just one player among many. Football is, above all, a mental game, and emotional fans often tend to forget that. In short, I have absolutely no doubt that he’ll turn it around. He’s done it before… he’ll do it again.

What 70m. are you talking about?
Didn't we reject a few reported £70m bids? I might be inflating the fee. Sometimes the reports over here get converted into Euros or USD. Could've sworn that was the # though. My mistake if not

We've done Spurs an immeasurable favor between gifting them 4 points and not selling them Savinho for 70m. Imagine how fucked they'd be.

He clearly has some skill but I just don't see it working out for him here. I'm still pulling for him and would love nothing more than to eat my words here, but the utter lack of end product and decisiveness on the ball is maddening

IT WAS NEVER 70 MIL.

Do you actually believe Daniel Levy would buy a 70 mil player??

It was 30 + add ons. Which made absolutely no sense since we actually bought him for 35.

Not one verified source has said 70m base fee was offered for him

Admire your belief and the defending of the lad, but I just dont see it. I get he had a good season in Spain, but i've seen plenty of one season wonders in my 30+ years watching football. He's been here nearly 2 years now and there has been zero improvement. Has the odd bit of skill, but 9/10 his end product is terrible. He's nowhere near the standard required.

He scored 11 goals. It was hardly the seconding coming of Ronaldo or Robben. Since then he’s scored 7 goals, with his only PL strike being a flukey deflection. There’s nothing mental about it, the guys technique is terrible when it comes to finishing.

I actually like him. You can see he has the skills needed as a winger - pace, acceleration, flair. Next season will be the key to his city career, if he doesn’t kick on, I think he will be gone next summer, if he does then we have a young exciting winger who can compliment the squad.

When he came on I turned to my mate and said this is the day he finally.does it and turns the corner. First two crosses hit a Southamptin player, then he loses the ball twice and on it went, dangling a foot into a tackle, weak shots again and no it didn't happen for him. I'm sorry and I know Pep is the greatest manager ever but whatever he see's in him I wish he would share it because for the chances he gets and the return he gives it just doesn't stack up . I just don't think he is anywhere near or going to be at the level required for this club. I don't think he's got the fight either he's just too soft. I'm trying to be nice about him when in truth he's just not good enough. He will be a decent player in a weaker league somewhere but not at the top of the Premier League.

Reminds me of Martinelli. You can see a lot of decent raw materials but he just can't put it together in a coherent fashion.

If he hasn't practised it already (and finishing at all) then it's just not going to happen for him. We've not seen any improvement in 2 seasons.
This is my problem with him. If he hasn’t learnt how to finish or create from clear cut opportunities in nearly two years with us, then he isn’t going to now. Just not top standard.
