John Stones set to leave at end of season | Confirmed by club (p11)

I remember seeing Bobby Moore at the end of his career, he still had so much time.

John Stones is the closest to Moore that we've seen in the English game. I'd put him on the top 3 of all time central defenders. Moore, Stones & Watson are all etched into my brain Dave W for different reasons but unmovable. Moore was no question at the top of the tree but John Stones is not far behind and does compare like for like.

Its laughable hearing people like VVD, Gabriel and Maguire being bigged up by the pundits.

Good memories , key moments that played a part in us lifting trophies , dogged by injuries in his latter times at City and only 31 which is just how the cookie crumbles for some but he always took it on the chin and never complained.

Wishing number 5 John Stones the best for whatever he decides on and would be a fitting send off to be part of another two trophies.

I am reminded that time passes us by very quickly and had to go back into the annals to confirm he joined us at 21.

All in all a legend of the club like Bernardo reminding us that all good things come to an end but the memories will always remain and all the ones I will reflect on are good ones.

Well done Stonsey you did do us proud.

I remember Stones doing a Cruyff turn in his own box and the Goodison fans were raging as he played the pass off, he then turned round and gestured to the fans to calm down, he was 19 years old.

The pundits and media rounded on an English centre back for playing it out from the back.

A decade later ...

Very emotional video that. Unbelievably gifted defender who has been an integral part of the most successful period in the club's history. Seems like a genuinely lovely guy as well. Gutted to see him go, but sadly the injuries took their toll on him so the timing is right. Really feels like the end of an era with so many club legends having departed in recent years.

It goes without saying what a great contribution the man has made to the club. The only sad side is he could have contributed more if it wasn’t for the injuries. It’s sad because I’m sure the lad would sooner be playing football, anyway wish him all the best in the future.
