Chelsea (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Absolute carnage when we drove past this early yesterday morning around 9.30 am on the way to Wealdstone FC Ruislip. One of the cars ( Peugeot) had rolled a long way down the motorway after impact clearly travelling at high speed and both cars were up the embankment. A number of very distressed people by the side of the motorway clearly in shock . Horrific scenes.
I'll never understand how they manage it. Then again there are so many morons around, I was cut up doing 70(ish) in the outside lane on the M6 on Friday night, had to brake really hard to not go into the back of this prick in a battered old white pick up that pulled out in front of me doing around 40-45. I don't even know why he pulled out, there was a truck ahead of him but must have been 3/4 mile away.

Why would they be wasting time in the first 25 minutes? I didn't see Sanchez take as long to take a goalkick as the one Trafford took at the end of the first half.

No ambition to attack? They went forward at every opportunity they got, rarely tried to gain a foothold and keep possession, their intent was sound, they simply didn't have the quality in attack to cause us any damage. They were nothing like Arsenal in the carabao who genuinely showed no ambition to attack us. They pressed us high and didnt just camp out around their box. we did well not to give the ball away cheaply in dangerous areas which would likely have been their ideal route to goal. They had a good gameplan that limited us to virtually nothing until a piece of magic opened them up.

they were poor stats dont lie, 1 shot on target all game and even that wasn't a save by trafford

WE need to be more relentless now, can't just keep passing, holding the ball up so much that all their team comes back

chelsea had 6 at the back for the first half, they had a game plan.

saying that I really enjoyed Nunes vs Cucurella's battle in the first half, especially when chelsea pinged the long ball up in that area

They gave it to Palmer before kick off...
They were desperate for Palmer to score the winning goal so they can stick it in to us.
I always find “the one that got away” narrative so fucking boring.
In reality the jury is still out on him, yes he had a great first season under Pochettino who didn’t even know who he was when he was signed, did ok under Maresca without repeating the stats of his breakthrough season and has returned 10 goals in 33 appearances this season including yesterdays final of which 5 were penalties.
IMHO he did ok yesterday his natural game was diminished by having to continually back up Gusto to negate Doku threat but I’m not sure he walks into our best 11.
Fuck the media they are desperate to see our dominance of English football end. They haven’t worked out we are fucking box office, even Moyes said we are the best football team in the Premiership after the 3-3 draw. See what the global audience is for a stale 1-0 decided by set piece corner routine where grappling before the corner is taken, is continually permitted unless it suits Scudamore’s “new champions every 6 years” strategic vision

They were never much of a threat but I agree with the OP, they did try to get forward whenever they could particularly at the start of the match. Khus's pace s important throughout but definitely early on in the match.

yeah the long balls to the wing were really their only choice they were just sat back and waited.

Glad we had speedy gonzalez at the back

Those 10 goals are in all comps too.

Jury's done and dusted and gone home for me. He wanted to go, expected to break into the first team on a permanent basis because he thought he was better than he is and had proven even since that he wasn't as good as he thought he was. I can imagine him being a bit disruptive if he doesn't get his own way too.

Always treated by the media like he's Neymar or something, but all he's won at Chelsea is the Fifa CWC, which we all know is a bit of a "toy" competition, and the Euro Conference which isn't much better.

I look at it this way, if we'd kept Palmer we might never have signed Haaland. No contest is there?

Palmer is our very own Jack Grealish.
1 very good season average the last couple.
Chelsea will take the rags to the cleaners selling him to that mob.

first 4 quarter game trialed at prestigious FA cup final the yanks are coming

There's a great team spirit at our club....

No doubt about the great team spirit.

Erling hugging Rayan C., John hugging fellow centre-backs, Rúben and Nathan and Gigi carrying Phil on his shoulders just shows the solidarity within the squad.
