Will we win the league this season? No

Terminal inconsistency this season, and just generally being lightweight. Plus Pep taking too long to figure out his team all came together to do us in. 80 point season is not good enough to win a league basically ever.

We were certainly not favourites to win the title pre season and then we lost two games early on in the premier league and we were more or less written off. So, to then to be runners up and win the two domestic cups is an incredible achievement. I think we simply ran out of gas in the league and that is why we drew quite a few games that we should have closed out from winning positions. Didn't we drop about 12 points from winning positions? That said, I think our last defeat was in the derby (17th January) so we have become much harder to beat. The only small disappointment is that we did not do better in the Champions League, but there are no guarantees in that competition where you need luck during the matches and luck in the draw to be able to progress.

Got pelters for this but I was right.
It was a laugh that boiled Arsenal fans piss but had absolutely no bearing - and certainly wasn't any inspiration / motivation - on Arsenal winning the league.
They came top so won it, but their performances since the "bottle" incident were hardly sensational. Lost to City, turgid home performances scraping wins and of course, the West Ham incident.
City on the other hand fucked up over a self destructed 15 mins at Everton and last night appeared to be one game too far over a short period of time (against a club with everything to play for).
For me the "bottle" incident in hindsight came back to bite but at its moment had the whole country laughing - apart from the Tarquin's who were livid and for that it was worth it.

Losing 4 times in the first 12 games had more than a little to do with it. Few come back from that, and in a weird season - where there’s tons of clubs on 49 points, where 38 points might get you relegated, where the winners won’t top 85 points - we did pretty well with a disjointed team to get as close as we did.

And Martinelli’s injury-time equaliser was a sickener too.

Can’t wait for next season.

Look no further than the one point we took off relegation fodder Spurs.... they came to our place and were world beaters!

I know it's all "part of the banter" or whatever but that bloke with the Arsenal tears bottle... Nah.

There are six games left; it's gonna swing all over the place. Arteta just needs to stick a picture of that bloke and his little "Arsenal tears" bottle on the wall of the Arsenal dressing room next week. Some people really are desperate to be on TV, getting some of the Fanzone Danny/Big Steve coin. It's the kind of shit London fans do, or Paddy Power employees. Yes it's "just a laugh" and if we win the league he can feel free to dig it out his pocket again, but if Arsenal win it from here and their fans go after him then he deserves all he gets.

Almost every title we've won has been won by finishing 1st quietly instead of 2nd loudly. As an organisation (so players, staff, fans) we've got to practise what we preach with the "stay humble" stuff. It's exactly what we've done on the pitch for years. Mellow personalities, quality football, winners. I've not completely given up on the league at any point this season, but if Arsenal pull off a smash and grab next week then that's it 99% over and that guy with his little Arsenal bottle will get mentioned by at least one Arsenal player after the game. Why do it?

Oh, for the memes, for a laugh. Grand.
He's getting a shitload of stick on social media. I suppose that if you stick your head above the parapet, you're there to be shot at.

Will we win it next season?

Are our signings the past 2-3 years a title winning standard?

Losing Stones, Silva, Pep and probably a few more.

Is it another "transition" year?

Disappointed not to win it of course, or even take it to the final day….. however for a new team to win a cup double and finish runners up in their first season really isn’t too shabby, we need to kick on next season both in the domestic league and the champions league

Agree with this.

The guy had no bearing on the league. It was funny at the time. Sometimes this stuff backfires. As far as the social media response goes, the block button exists for a reason. You don't have to engage with them. But I guarantee no Arsenal player needed motivation from the Internet picking on them. They're pro footballers.

Multiple dismal performances on our part are where the blame stops. Arsenal won with a max 85 points. Not a single City team that's won the Premier League would have come 2nd to this.

We've scored our 2nd lowest total of goals since Pep came in (unless we destroy Villa this weekend). That's where our concern should lie.

Glad the arses couldnt win it in front of their home fans and also couldnt be immortalised with a last min goal (ala Aguero) or comeback ala Gundo vs Villa.

We will be back next season

Exactly that, we never had an easier chance to win it this season.

As you say, congrats to Arsenal, we will need to buy well this summer and no more Savinhoesq signings.

Arsenal will be more confident now and clubs like Liverpool and possibly united will provide a much stronger challenge.

It hurts. I didn't expect us to win it this season, for large parts of it we looked miles away but then we reeled them in and it felt like we could have got the job done. Arsenal haven't been good, they haven't played well but they've got over the line. Ultimately though they've been 2nd best for what, 4 seasons prior to this? We've still won 2 titles to their 1 in that period, despite sitting on our hands when we needed to enhance the squad.

We go again next year and despite not winning the league we've secured two domestic trophies and shown that we're close. Converting a few of those draws, seeing wins out - that's all we're talking about. A few new signings and we'll be the best in the league again.

I just hope PSG give Arsenal a battering in the CL final. They've not played in a manner deserving of a CL and league double and whilst football doesn't work like that, I hope they are left devastated. It's bitter of me, but I am fucking bitter right now.

All that shite dark arts besides, the lot were able to defend a win.
We didn't get it over the line in all 5 scoring draws. The next manager hopefully brings a smarter game management. And some new players with more resilience.

He certainly seems to be at all the games, because the cameras invariably find him. A moment of fame for a lifetime of ignominy.
He is, seen him at every away game this year I think. Why hes getting pelters off other city fans I dont know.

So called Arsenal super team were announcing quadruples, then played Southampton and lost, came to Etihad and lost, played us at Wembley and lost and just got carried to a title by PGMOL to end up winning by a few points. One game away from losing the title, hardly shaking the bottle merchant tag that quickly.

Think they even found him at the Etihad and Wembley. Maybe they employ facial recognition technology!

Not sure they'll be worried about bottler tags as they pop the bubbly, but then theirs was more a Prosecco title win.
