Pep to leave at the end of the season

Someone asked pep would he return to city? Said he never would to Barca and would it be the same for city…Pep what paper you from? The dangerous one? Hahaha

That it all aboard the Pep return train in 2030 -:)

I did like the answer about the charges…if you can find me. Pep on the run with khaldoon -:)

That'd be brilliant. And Zabba, and Sergio.
Some players may have matchday commitments at their current clubs, those who are still playing or involved in their club in some way of course.
Bet you're glad you're not a mod now Jim. Match day thread next season will be a car crash with all the Guardiola grievers unable to accept and take to Maresca.
You're not wrong, especially if we don't win anything or look like we might be in the running to. I can imagine endless reminders of the point that Pep didn't win anything in his first season with us.

It will be a shame if our 8-season FAC semi final place comes to and end too, but it's another record that will probably never be beaten.

Going to be a sad day tomorrow. I think end of an era is thrown out to often. But tomorrow is an end of an era of dominance. With all the stories coming out about Pep, who ever follows him has to integrate with our fans as much as he did.

That said, I’m excited to see the next era. No manager in recent memory has been as influential as Pep. But that doesn’t mean someone can’t come in and exceed expectations. Look at Enrique, on the verge of a back to back European Cup with a team that I would class as a “super” team. Results on the pitch can be replicated and with the backing a City manager has got, I think there’s a good chance we will see success in the near future.
It's obviously the end of Pep's era of dominance but I'm quite surprised at the number of posters who think there's going to be a major drop off.

Seems a lot are forgetting that both Mancini and Pellegrini were winning titles for us before Pep arrived, and it wasn't just the PL, there were FA cups (well, one), and League cups in there too.

Those running the club from the top down now have the experience of knowing how to handle it, of what is required to keep us at the top and Maresca looks like the perfect fit to me, all things considered.

But if it doesn't work out they'll change it again. You only have to look at the success of the other teams within the club are achieving to see how well this club is run and there's no reason why it can't continue.

Who knows, it might even get better! I absolutely do not mean any disrespect to Pep (wouldn't bother me if we never win it again), but he only won the one Champions League and I'm sure that remains the number one target for the club.

DAM I'm in the US at the moment, hope the club records the whole of the final day so I can get to see everything that will happen on Peps final game ?
100% it will all be on the City+ channel.

will we have any coaching staff left?

Where will we get the next lot from - including a set piece coach for a change?
No doubt Maresca will have his own team lined up. One thing that has been a surprise over the years is how often the coaching staff changed, I've lost count how many Pep worked with so I'm not really concerned on that front.

Maybe Maresca can sort out getting the ball to Haaland. Repelling opposition team breakaways and dealing with long balls over the top. That would be a good start.

I apologize in advance because as my grammar and spelling have always been shite, but this has finally hit home for me. As the son of a mum who likes Arsenal (tbf she picked them because it annoyed my dad), my Dad who is a massive red and brother to a older red sister, being a City fan wasn't easy.
From Rosler to Goater, to Anelka to the king in Aguero and Finally Haaland. I like many of you have seen some shite and some beautiful football.
For me I picked this club because it got me and I got it. Winning was immaterial I just loved being a blue. Ball was a low pint, Royle a false dawn, but then came Keegan and for me he started to turn this big blue ship around, he dreamed big and saw the potential in us.01/02 as a 16 year old I thought it would never get better than that. Pearce lovely bloke shit manager 06/07 was a war of attraction. Sven loved him. Again Elano and Petrov I thought would be the pinnacle. Next Hughes less said the better. Next Mancini. My nickname at primary school was Mancini as 90s serie A was all the rage and Lazio had the same kit as us. I loved him, 2011 was unreal. My son was born 5/2/2011. That day the Rags lost their first league game of the season against wolves City beat West Brom, Tevez scored a hattrick on his birthday. My son will forever be my little Tevez. Being at wembley and beating them rag cunts. Just wow. Mancini ripping that banner down by beating Stoke! Bliss. Aguero 93.20 no words needed. Still got the scar on the back of my leg when I leapt 3 rows forward.
Pellerlgrini next and I'll be honest I never took to him, although he signed probably one of my all time favorite City players in Fernandinho. Always felt we won them 3 trophies in spite of Pellegrini not because of him.
And lastly and definitely not least the great man. And I'll hold my hands up when he came and Mourinho went to the rags I thought we'd got it wrong. However as is usually the case as im the most pessimistic City fan on the planet it was me who was wrong. And thank fuck I was. 16/17 wasn't great, but I remember beating Watford last game of the season and saying next year we will be the team to beat. 17/18 was beautiful and for me the most complete City performance beating Arsenal at the Emirates during the best of the east storm. Leroy's goal will live long in the memory.
Next 18/19 and for me the most entertaining City side of all time. Liverpool that year were a great side, just not as great as Pep and my beloved City. Fast forward to June 10th 2023. I got married that day, We also won the European cup, something a skinny lad from Farnworth could only dream about in the 90s.
And then to Pep the man. Thank you for fighting our corner. For every tedious press conference where they try throw sly digs at you. For every 115 defense you backed us to the hilt. I know your heart beats Barca, but you definitely now bleed blue and I l9ve you for it.
Pep I know you'll never see this, but im devastated you're leaving. You literally made dreams come true. I gave my season ticket up in 2013(worst mistake of my life), but I'll be there tomorrow with my son and a lump in my throat. Thanks Pep. Thank you Mister.
We've got Guardiola.....

I think Maresca favours getting the ball forward a lot quicker, could be wrong but I seem to remenber an interview when he said he wanted his keeper to get the ball forward as quickly as possible.

The biggest issue with that is the counter attack when we lose it, which is the main reason Pep doesn't like his players to just punt it into the box.

We all know how often we got hit on the break after teams had worked it out, and the injury hit season last year really showed what an issue that could be when we lost the ball, one that continued into this season as the current squad aren't as good as the best we had at keeping the ball and winning it back.

Switching to Pep gave us a few years for analysts to catch up.

Had Pep done what he’d done in the Pisscan’s era, the video analysts didn’t exist, so he’d have won even more.

We’re now in the cycle where rigid, aggressive football is winning again.

We await the next maverick that can break that.

You’ll regret this post, can’t believe how you (and others) can question our greatest ever Manager. I’ll remind you around half way through next season.

Listening to a great tribute to Pep on radio 5 the other day which sadly ended with the 115.

Sick of it…

Been awake since 4am. On Friday night I dreamt it was today. Last night I dreamt it was today again, and that the commentator was telling us Pep has abandoned his usual formation for a front two, and we were starting the match with Haaland and Aguero upfront.

I don't think I'm ready for it. But that's exactly why it has to happen today, before summer, before the world cup. If we feel like this in August then the hyenas will circle.

I've been dreading this day for years. It feels like the morning of a funeral. Which is why it can't be that.

Everything is possible next season. Today can just be today. I need coffee.

It's going to be a long emotional day esp for us early risers.
Monday will be odd, no longer being managed by Pep. Wonder when he will actually leave Manchester, physically I mean as he is obviously taking a piece of us with him.
