I apologize in advance because as my grammar and spelling have always been shite, but this has finally hit home for me. As the son of a mum who likes Arsenal (tbf she picked them because it annoyed my dad), my Dad who is a massive red and brother to a older red sister, being a City fan wasn't easy.
From Rosler to Goater, to Anelka to the king in Aguero and Finally Haaland. I like many of you have seen some shite and some beautiful football.
For me I picked this club because it got me and I got it. Winning was immaterial I just loved being a blue. Ball was a low pint, Royle a false dawn, but then came Keegan and for me he started to turn this big blue ship around, he dreamed big and saw the potential in us.01/02 as a 16 year old I thought it would never get better than that. Pearce lovely bloke shit manager 06/07 was a war of attraction. Sven loved him. Again Elano and Petrov I thought would be the pinnacle. Next Hughes less said the better. Next Mancini. My nickname at primary school was Mancini as 90s serie A was all the rage and Lazio had the same kit as us. I loved him, 2011 was unreal. My son was born 5/2/2011. That day the Rags lost their first league game of the season against wolves City beat West Brom, Tevez scored a hattrick on his birthday. My son will forever be my little Tevez. Being at wembley and beating them rag cunts. Just wow. Mancini ripping that banner down by beating Stoke! Bliss. Aguero 93.20 no words needed. Still got the scar on the back of my leg when I leapt 3 rows forward.
Pellerlgrini next and I'll be honest I never took to him, although he signed probably one of my all time favorite City players in Fernandinho. Always felt we won them 3 trophies in spite of Pellegrini not because of him.
And lastly and definitely not least the great man. And I'll hold my hands up when he came and Mourinho went to the rags I thought we'd got it wrong. However as is usually the case as im the most pessimistic City fan on the planet it was me who was wrong. And thank fuck I was. 16/17 wasn't great, but I remember beating Watford last game of the season and saying next year we will be the team to beat. 17/18 was beautiful and for me the most complete City performance beating Arsenal at the Emirates during the best of the east storm. Leroy's goal will live long in the memory.
Next 18/19 and for me the most entertaining City side of all time. Liverpool that year were a great side, just not as great as Pep and my beloved City. Fast forward to June 10th 2023. I got married that day, We also won the European cup, something a skinny lad from Farnworth could only dream about in the 90s.
And then to Pep the man. Thank you for fighting our corner. For every tedious press conference where they try throw sly digs at you. For every 115 defense you backed us to the hilt. I know your heart beats Barca, but you definitely now bleed blue and I l9ve you for it.
Pep I know you'll never see this, but im devastated you're leaving. You literally made dreams come true. I gave my season ticket up in 2013(worst mistake of my life), but I'll be there tomorrow with my son and a lump in my throat. Thanks Pep. Thank you Mister.
We've got Guardiola.....
