WSL 25/26 Discussion - The Other Teams

Arse 2-0 up at Villa confirms that the Ragettes are out of the CL next season.
They should piss the WSL next season now according to the BBC mantra.
Although they’ve never ever won it before…No history!

Lifelong Rag fan Jess Park will be happy with her decision

London City Lionesses set to sign 2 time ballon d'or winner Alexia Putellas from Barcelona. Would be a huge signing for them.

They also want Mary Earps and Mapi Leon.

If they have the summer they hope for, they will be right up there next season.

Michelle Kang doesn't half play. If she owns a team, she wants them to be successful. Some perhaps don't care for her but who am I to judge?

Our owners came in with funding and wanted to make the club more successful. Moreover, she seems to truly care about increasing sport opportunities for women and girls, not just football but other sports, from the grassroots to professional levels.

London City aren't associated with the clubs who have, in recent history, had it out for City. If they become a thorn in these clubs' sides, I'm all for that.

From Barcelona to Bromley and no Champions League? Putellas signing for LCL would be a helluva step down for her. Must be quite a pay day if that were to happen. They would also have to sort out the ownership if they were to qualify for the UWCL because of the multi-club rules with Kang owning Olympique Lyonnais as well.

I dont have a massive problem with someone investing in a women's team and trying to do something a bit different with a club with no affilation to a men's team. But tbh i can see the LCL project fully crashing out. When she got involved with Lyon they were a well established and dominant team already. With Washington, the financial landscape in US sports is totally different.

I dont think she seems to have clue on how to build a squad to compete in a very competitive league against other teams with financial muscle.

Freya Godfrey has been their best signing and should be an indicator of what their strategy ought to be moving forward but instead she's continuing with her strategy of signing big names past their peak. Alexia is still an amazing player but she's spent her entire career spanking teams 13-0 in La Liga and only having to show up in spring for the champs league. Not so sure this move will be as transformative as people think (i actually think she could still end up in the states anyway)

Spurs are making much smarter signings and i think theyll finish above LCL next season.

And regarding Kang, i dont think any of what she does is for the good of the game. She's in it for money same as anyone else. And her relationship with FIFA (eg sponsoring the womens club world cup) is pretty concerning moving forward.

Why? Because you and she don't have the same political views?

As for only being "in it for money" that's essentially every owner of every team and business for that matter. If you think football team owners are "in it" to lose money because they are just lovers of the game you are mistaken. I imagine you've noticed even our beloved owner has increased the amount of money, for better or for worse, that City generates.

Poor people don't create jobs for others. It's not how it works. I presume you are paid by someone to work. Is it by someone who wishes to lose money and just employs you because they are benevolent?

What are you on about? I literally said she's a business person same as anyone else in football. I didnt say it was bad or that shes morally better or worse than anyone else. Have no idea what her political opinions are either. But its common for people to frame Michelle Kang as some kind of feel good story. She isnt doing what she does out of charity or to lift up other women.

And my point stands that her business arrangements with FIFA and NWSL are problematic and would attract way more suspicion if it were men's football.
