VAR Discussion Thread

How and why we allow the use of these cartoon graphics is astounding. The body shapes of each player bear no resemblance to the actual player involved. They actually bear no resemblance to human beings as the one pretending to be Phil doesn’t appear to have an elbow. Whilst I have no intimate knowledge of Pau Torres, I don’t think he has a thigh gap either :)
Have you seen the Iran Lego videos taking the piss out of Trump?

They are more realistic than that graphic and they are computerised lego bricks ffs.

The dubious goals panel are usually all over this stuff. Strangely not in this case. Did someone have a bet on?
In other threads you get posters stating, 'imo its not bent, if it is please explain how its bent, surely everyone has to be in on it'.

Here is a clear example. Not one other PL player gets given the goal never mind the assist.
Are they all in on it ? Well it fuckin' sure looks like it to me.

It’s not a surprise blue, they’re ruining the beautiful game. Taking the rush of emotion out of scoring a goal and replacing it with uncertainty and then normally confusion/anger inside the stadium. Never going to end well. All makes good TV and ‘content’ for Sky though doesn’t it…
I'm neither confused nor angry - I'm just incredulous.

This is still bugging me, it begs so many questions of PGMOL and VAR, that City aren’t screaming blue murder and demanding a third party audit of the process that led to this obvious error. If nothing else it would put PGMOL on notice that they weren’t going to get an easy ride with unreal explanations for weird decisions. Have we not learned from our let’s just take the hit and play nicely experiences?

I assume the football media is all over yesterday's farce? Sky running it on a loop, the BBC condemning it as an affront to the game? Martin Samuel penning an acidic piece on Howard Webb and his stewardship of refereeing? City threatening to complain or take other action, as other clubs undoubtedly would?

VAR should be used for clear and obvious errors, as we were told it would be, not for scrutinising every goal for the most minor possible infringement. I remember at the old White Hart Lane in 2015 when we were 1-0 up going into half-time, when Spurs equalised. We could see from the away end that Kyle Walker, who provided the assist, was offside by a few feet right in front of the linesman. Yet the goal stood. That's the sort of thing VAR should be getting involved in, not whether someone's toe or buttock is offside.
it's factual ;)
