PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Surely the precedent has been set now even if we are guilty of the worst charges as Chelsea had 74 charges of payment off the books which would affect their accounts and FFP etc and got a £10m fine? 115 charges say £25m fine and done?

It’s still hilarious to me that all these haters on twitter that are desperately trying to sound like they know something seem to be expecting the announcement to be a punishment. It literally doesn’t work like that. They have to determine whether there’s any guilt first and that’s what we are waiting on. Yet you have these idiots peddling that “it is my understanding… 60 point deduction, transfer ban, relegation” etc. None of them actually realise that by listing punishments they are outing themselves as being an absolute know nothing clown.

Said it the other day, seems like it will get announced during the WC - we get proven not guilty, yes there will be uproar and piss boiling, but not as much if there was no distraction in place - all eyes on England and the WC

For the PL it will be even better if our national team are doing well

Chelsea had the mitigating circumstances of the new ownership admitting what had happened before them. In the world where we are guilty of the most serious charges, there are no two ways about it, we would be fucked. But unless there has been some astonishing new evidence that we don’t know about, I don’t really see how the PL meet the burden of proof on the really serious stuff. We’re of course guilty of non-cooperation, that we pretty much know for certain and will carry a fine.

It still happened though mate and it was through their most successful period and set them up to be a powerhouse at that time? Just becuause it was offered up, doesnt make it less of a crime?

They like most people in the social media space are confusing their own fantasy with reality.

It does make it less of a punishment though. They will have a starting point and will then look at aggravating and mitigating factors to make the punishment more or less severe. There’s even reduced sentences for admitting murder, it’s just how it works. City don’t on the face of it have anywhere near the mitigating factors that Chelsea were deemed to have and we would absolutely have the book thrown at us if we are found guilty of the really serious charges.

Can't see Khaldoon allowing that to happen again. Once bitten twice shy.

I think People don't realise that there is a political element to consider. The UK defence industry exported over £13bn of orders in 2024, 60% is bought by the UAE.

The UK Government will be the reason why the verdict hasn't been released yet. No way they will want to upset our owners!

IMO if we were guilty, there is no reason for it not to be announced along with the points deduction/fine. I honestly believe that the delay is down to what legal fees City want of the Premier League.

The Chair of City (Khaldoon) holds senior positions within the Government of Abu Dhabi, including as a member of the Executive Council since 2006, a member of the Supreme Council for Financial and Economic Affairs, and as the founding chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority. He fulfills responsibilities for the UAE Federal government and has served as Presidential Special Envoy to the People's Republic of China since 2018.
He is also chief executive officer and managing director of Mubadala Investment Company. He is chairman of the football clubs Manchester City, Melbourne City and Mumbai City. Al Mubarak is on the board of the UAE business ADNOC and serves as the Chairman of the Boards of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Emirates Global Aluminium.

The Chair of the Premier League (Richard Masters), got the top job at the Premier League after being head of marketing. He refused to be at our last few trophy presentations!

We (City) have had our name dragged through the mud since the start of this and kept a dignified silence. We will do the same whatever the outcome. I just hope that we take the PL for every penny if we get cleared, then invest it all in grass root football. I love how much Pep hurt them all while being a nice guy!!
Abu Dhabi have poured billions into the Dogger Bank wind industry.

It said in the verdict summary that that without mitigation the fine would have been doubled and a proper player transfer ban would have been applied. So the poster is right, precendent has been set

I’d argue what they did was worse tho yet there was never talk of them getting relegated

I think what they did was worse than what we have been alleged to do
