Champions League Final 2026 | Sat 30th May | Paris Saint-Germain v Arsenal

Thinking back to the commentary, and Fletcher, McCoist and Slippy G metaphorically rubbing their hands together, "PSG have substituted all their penalty-takers".

When I heard it had gone to penalties, I quietly thought to myself we’d handed Arsenal the champions league by taking Donnarumma off PSG. How wrong I was.

I do find it funny that someone who spent 72hrs looking at penalties awarded in the CL this season didn't spend an hour getting his team to practice them.

The PSG keeper was excellent for Eze's - just didn't flinch but to have two of your 5 players miss the target is shocking in this day and age. I don't think the PSG keeper would have saved any had Arsenal just kept their shots on target.

First time i have known pubs that all wanted an English team to lose ............. normally get a split but this was off the scales...........lets hope that the powers that be the bent ones that helped them win the league realise that this club are damaging there global brand
My wife was sat in the garden during the game. She told me later that when PSG equalised she heard me going mental but also a family of rags going mental up the other end of the avenue. Arsenal have really captured peoples hearts !

And consistently wishing for Arse corners and getting very excited at the one at the end of the second half of extra time. They were a disgrace, it was bias off the scale.
Arteta sent them out to win the CL by these tactics ? they nearly did do the double, the ref had enough and blew up early for half time.

I don’t think he necessarily blew up early for half-time.

But, because cheating Arsenal had taken so long to take the corner, he decided they’d had more than enough time to get the ball back into play.

I was putting my youngest to bed as it was going to penalties and knew if it was quiet Arsenal would have won - luckily plenty of noise!

The ref got it spot on. The added time doesn't mean the game continues until you've taken your set piece. It was only a couple of years ago teams used to show a bit of urgency when they had a set piece and would sprint over to get it done before the ref blew the whistle. Why show urgency if the ref doesn't have the discretion to blow for HT/FT? Arsenal took too long so he blew the whistle, rightly so.

Think it was a build up of throw ins etc that made it happen .............soon as that player regardless of who it is picks that ballup then thats the player taking the throw in ...........get sick of it across all levels of the game..........go as far to say that the nearest player should throw it in.
This and goalkeepers going down need sorting out and hopefully it will ..............we all go to a game to be entertained not to sit there and watch shithouse tactics

The funniest thing is (and someone on here has already pointed this out) was the commentator referring to how clever arsenal were being by running down the clock and making sure the throw in before the corner would be the final attacking play of the first half. He then proceeded to act outraged when the ref didn’t allow arsenal to take the corner. The hypocrisy and double standard shown from some of these (mainly English commentators) is unreal

I went down to see my son's rock band playing on the pier yesterday: nice sunshine, huge crowd, open air, etc. The previous night, they'd shown the Final on one of those big screens, and everybody was telling me how, when that wanker's penalty embarked on a collision course with the International Space Station, the crowd was deafening. The cheers could be heard for miles around. Like a dozen turbo jets taking off simultaneously, one of the roadies said.
And all because an English team had LOST a Champions League final!!

In all sincerity, and all joking aside, they have become the most hated team on this planet. And when you consider the competition: the Rags, the Dippers, probably Millwall, and the MK Dons too, that is some impressive achievement.

It makes you wonder where they go from here. Their reputation is at absolute rock bottom because of their cheating, and the God-awful 'football.' I don't think the damage is irreparable. Still, it is going to take some mind-blowing, monumentally hard work just to be accepted back into the sport - and this is after being gifted the Webb League trophy.
Arteta has poisoned more people in a couple of years than Lucrezia and the rest of the Borgia family managed throughout their entire reign.

Losing this competition in the final, when you've won your domestic league, is a sickener. I can remember waking up the day after Porto and feeling hollow; we'd won the PL and the League Cup, but crazily the whole season felt flat after that Chelsea defeat. I convinced myself we'd never get another chance, which is why Istanbul felt so good. It wasn't just joy, it was relief. Finally breaking the curse.

Arsenal fans won't admit it, but they'll feel exactly the same. They'll be plagued with "what ifs" until they get another chance. And that other chance may never come, because so many variables have to align in order to win the CL.

I can remember Clive Thomas blowing up for full-time in a World Cup match, as the ball was coming across from a corner.

The attacking side (Brazil, I think) scored, but Thomas wouldn’t allow the goal to stand.

Even more people than either Revie or the pisscan managed, and that is some achievement.
