He's hoping to get to a game at St James's park to say goodbye, certainly sounded likes weeks to months. Hope he makes and it would be nice if the not so random fixture computer churned out Newcastle v City

Loved the time under him, especially in the Championship - the best football I'd ever seen us play to that point and still some of the most exciting football I can recall.

But if you're playing with the fixture computer, it'd be Newcastle v Liverpool for him

Lived football under him and he just seems a genuine guy, my earliest memory is him featured in the video at the end of grandstand on a Saturday with him heading a goal in for Liverpool

Hope he smashes cancer like he smashed the championship with city, and then signed a prime Anelka. What a man. Fight the good fight Mr Keegan!

Loved him as a manager, but didn’t quite realise just how great he was as a player until I watched a YouTube highlights video recently. Given he won the Balon D’Or twice, you would think he would be talked about amongst the greatest players England has produced - I’m sure those with about 10 years on me would confirm. And that season in the Championship- wow, it gave us hope back. Keep battling King Kev.

This pic was taken Aug 2002 vs Everton at Maine Road. My Dad was friends with Buzzer and just before kick off he saw me and my daughter, and asked if we'd like a quick picture with KK. It was literally 1 minute before KO. Buzzer grabbed him and KK trotted over. Really engaged with my daughter, to the extent that Asa Hartford had to shout over "gaffer the games started". He had every excuse to decline the pic, but didn't, which is a measure of the man.

Scroll forward to last Friday night, some 24 years later. Despite her autism, my daughter is now working for a PR/Memorabilia firm and KK is one of their clients. She had only ever met him once, at 2 years old, in 2002. She would never associate a name to a famous face, so working with some guy called Kevin Keegan probably didn't register with her. But she recognised his face when introduced, immediately pulled up the piccie and proudly showed it Kev, reminding him he got told off for missing kick-off. Sharp as a tack, and bearing in mind the thousands of pics the man has had taken over the years, he laughed and said "yes, and totally the fault of a certain Mr Summerbee, if memory serves".

Absolute giant of a man, who will fight to the end, as he did on the pitch.

Thats lovely

Always loved Kev; when I was a kid playing 3 and in I was always him, one of my favourite ever Xmas presents was a fluorescent orange Kevin Keegan t shirt with his signature on the chest. The fact that signature fell off within a week didn’t matter to this young boy - I just got a biro and wrote over the glue lines!
The football Newcastle played under him was so beautiful, his tv meltdown was epic, his honesty and humility when admitting he couldn’t take England further was admirable yet frustrating, and then he came to us and introduced us to players and a beautiful game that we hadn’t seen it many a year.

Stage 4 is fucking horrible news but I just hope he somehow pulls through.

Best wishes Kev, you will always be a legend to us oldies.

Despite everything thats happened since Kev, watching us home and away under Kev was my favourite years as a blue.

Totally loved KK and the brilliant football he gave us that season

If they score 3 we’ll score 4.

Take care Mighty Mouse
Compare and contrast to the dross served up by his successor. It was as if the gypsy's curse thought fuck this, they've lived the high life, let's see how they cope with 10 home goals all season.

One of the nice guys in football , every club he played or managed the fans loved him , wore his heart on his sleeve and was a brilliant manager for us , hope he fights on and gets a few more time to enjoy his twilight years , cancer is a bitch.
