Hope he able to get to a game at Newcastle, Liverpool or City before the final whistle, I loved watching that promotion City team of his. Up until 2018 one of the few seasons where we took care of business(at either end of the table) before the end of the season.

I suppose it depends on the type of cancer he has re a potential recovery but stage 4 is a bastard of a diagnosis.

Love that man. What a great time that was.

I'm willing to pretend there's a heaven so he can play or manage football in the sky.

Always loved KK. I was absolutely elated when he joined us. A proper nice n down to earth man of the people. I wish him all the best, I know the diagnosis seems final, but I'm hoping of some kinda miracle. Fuck off cancer you vile bastard!

Met KK at Manchester Airport a few years ago, he was in a shop just browsing a few holiday items, I spoke to him saying I was a Blue and the football we’d played the season we won the Championship with Ali B and Eyal was the most enjoyable season I’d ever experienced.

He said something like “the players and the Manager liked it as well”. Had a few more words with him, seemed like a really down to earth nice guy.

Hope KK can get a few years of life despite being dealt this cruel blow. It’s a horrible disease, I’ve lost several friends to it and a couple of family members, not easy to deal with.

Remember going to watch City train once at Carrington, back in the days where you could walk down a sidepath and watch through the fence. Keegan clocked us from a distance and came over for a chat, and then instructed the security guard to let us in. We were just sat on the side of the pitch watching the first team train metres away. Seems mad now, given the tight security and secrecy around training these days. Not that KK was particularly arsed about the session - he was pissing around on an adjacent pitch with Derek Fazackerley taking shots at Peter Bonetti and having a laugh ("you'll never beat The Cat from there!"). Seemed like a really sound, genuinely warm guy.

You get kicked out of the Playoff final for doing that these days.

Me too mate. I also used to go and watch the training from the side there next to Sale FC - although I was working part time for Southampton back then.

Seriously though, love Keegan and wish him all the best. Hate this bloody disease.

Yea me too, loads of times when I was on the road, like @SWP's back just said at the back of Sale RFC training ground, proper up close, used to love watching Anelka at the end of sessions with shooting practice as well, mad to be that close really when I think back.

Park in that lay by and walk up the road near that bit of a farm, then used to get back in car and go to the butty bar on the road leading up to rags training ground , used to see a few of them tossers hurtling past going back home as well

First City team I was old enough to fall in love with was KK’s. Properly enjoyed going watching it or listening on the radio knowing there would be a tonne of goals and some mega football played. Cheers Kev

This pic was taken Aug 2002 vs Everton at Maine Road. My Dad was friends with Buzzer and just before kick off he saw me and my daughter, and asked if we'd like a quick picture with KK. It was literally 1 minute before KO. Buzzer grabbed him and KK trotted over. Really engaged with my daughter, to the extent that Asa Hartford had to shout over "gaffer the games started". He had every excuse to decline the pic, but didn't, which is a measure of the man.

Scroll forward to last Friday night, some 24 years later. Despite her autism, my daughter is now working for a PR/Memorabilia firm and KK is one of their clients. She had only ever met him once, at 2 years old, in 2002. She would never associate a name to a famous face, so working with some guy called Kevin Keegan probably didn't register with her. But she recognised his face when introduced, immediately pulled up the piccie and proudly showed it Kev, reminding him he got told off for missing kick-off. Sharp as a tack, and bearing in mind the thousands of pics the man has had taken over the years, he laughed and said "yes, and totally the fault of a certain Mr Summerbee, if memory serves".

Absolute giant of a man, who will fight to the end, as he did on the pitch.
That's a blinder of a post, Dodge. Cheers for sharing.

I actually said the same to Him (about Ali B and the Style of football under him as Manager) at a City v Barnsley FC cup game, He was on the pitch with BT sports and came to the corner flag to greet some fans before Kick off to which I was one.
