Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

If he's fit and we can get him on the pitch and let's be honest IF he still wants to play for us.
Don’t think wanting to play is any issue, if he here its because he wants to be.
My guess is his decision is between seeing out his contract or extending , will depend on his options after the world cup.

To him it's a business decision we have to remember that in all probability some fans think that it's still the 70's and kissing the badge and showing huge amounts of loyalty was a thing, commodities move on now the highest bidder in mostly king.
Partly that partly his family. IF it’s only business then the obvious thing to do is see out his contract and get a big contract instead of going now and Madrid or whoever paying us a big fee.

Seems a backward step.

City used to get deals done before anyone knew what was happening, more Virginia Plain, now it is like Nigel Short playing white.

Did they? Not from my memory. We’ve not had an out the blue signing since Akanji IMO and before that it was Bernie.

Media has progressed massively and agents/clubs play into the ‘game’ of it all because the announcement does well and hits harder after weeks of anticipation. That’s my twopence on why it is how it is anyway.

Wouldn't be surprised if Gonzalez and Kovacic also moved on this summer. We could be in for a complete midfield overhaul. One that's probably been needed since the treble season.

I think we’ll see NOR in midfield a lot next season. Despite the quotes floating around I don’t think Rodri leaves this summer, extension or not, Real won’t pay enough and would be happy to wait a year.

It means that Rodri, Anderson and NOR plus any of Reijnders, Nico G or Kovacic that stay. If all three leave then we are very short in midfield.
