City threaten legal action against Madrid candidate over Haaland - report

saying City going OTT threatening to sue etc - not realising or deliberatly overlooking the fact that it is not City v Madrid, it's an issue of image rights etc over some chancer trying to take control of the most corrupt club in the world by any corrupt means he can
Cheers thanks.

Seems a strange hill to die on in the context of all the other shit the club let's slide.
Nobody is proposing to die on any hill about this but ...
We have paid /Pay EH an enormous amount of money for his image rights. This guy is using those image rights, without permission for personal gain. At the same time he's attempting to unsettle one of our players.
Send hima bill for the unofficial use of those rights, with compensation. Add that in the unlikely event he wins we will bring a charge for tapping up.
We've been letting too many people say far too much about our club, for too long.

The whole thing is a bit of a positive really. In the aftermath of Pep’s departure, this has triggered Erling’s dad and agent to both come out and say he is going nowhere. Good news and kills any shit stirring stories the cartel media might have been dreaming up. It also says everything about Real really.

They didn't threaten to sue.

exploring legal recourse, tomatoes, tomahtoes
Not really. But I can see why, because a claim as explicit as that could suddenlynlead to loads of rogue speculation. For such key players. Away at the world cup, with time for people to let their imaginations run wild. With a new manager coming in already having to deal with the expectation of following Pep, then having that distraction too. Plus the players themselves then being subject to stupid questions while away, and journalists trying to catch them out and put words in their mouths etc.

It is a statement that shelters the players and manager from all that, gives the fans a bit of resolve. And also harms the chances of someone looking to get an advantage by misusing City's recognisable image that had taken a good decade + to build.

What Riquelne said might seem worthless to get upset over for some - but his quotes have gone round the world and the global media don’t think it’s a joke. I’ve read multiple articles now likening the situation to Figo and they don’t believe the quotes from Haalands dad and City.

City are trying to recruit players whilst being hamstrung by not even naming our new manager yet - and have Rodri And Guardial giving cryptic interviews about leaving - and now have this to deal with.

Get the fucking manager named and then start fighting back.

This clown is now claiming talks to sign Haaland will begin on Monday

Think he’s just a WUM who is spouting this bullshit as he knows he’s got no chance of being elected

We don't have a history of selling our best players in their prime to the Spanish giants, unless they have come to the natural end of their time with us. It's one of the reasons Madrid and the head of La Liga despise us. They would both have loved to have signed David Silva, prime Aguero, De Bruyne, Vinny, etc... but like Laporte has since pointed out, there's nothing like playing for City. The way players are treated and taken care of is second to non. Players regret leaving. There's no other club like us. Haaland would never in a million years sign a 9 year contract if he intended to leave for Madrid in his prime. City are never in a position that they need to sell. If Rodri goes it will be because we don't think he is the player he was.
