Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

I'm of the mind that A) Rodri's keen on a move B) He will only ever be the player we saw last season which was about 75% what we were used to when he was at his peak. Yes... 75% Rodri is still upper shelf but...

Pretty sure B) goes a long way toward influencing A) and as such we need to get what we can for him now and eye replacements now. If he's fine running his deal down, he's earned that but I'd rather get what we can now than risk another season of him on and off the pitch... and getting zero return come next summer.
How much you reckon a 75% Rodri in last year of contract brings? 30-40million

I have often wondered how Forest can have MGW and Anderson and struggle against relegation.

In addition to points mentioned by others, they massively missed Chris Wood this season.

The previous season he played 36 PL games and scored 20. This season he had a knee injury and played just 11, scoring 4.

If it was us trying to sign a Ballon D'or winner we would have to pay at least 100m, probably more, even with only 1 year left on the deal.

He was gradually getting back to his top self. Think if we did sell him we could get at least £50m for him, because if Madrid could sign one player to fix their problems it would be him and they know this. It would be a shame if he left on a free, but the value of having him during this big transition year ahead is significant. If he doesn't get back to the top level, and Anderson, Nico are playing really well, then we could always sell him for £20m or so in January

often wondered when a bid is rejected why it takes ages to hear about a next one!? Obviously conversations happening and it’s probably optics for the selling club but say we didn’t hear anything else for 3 weeks that would be strange?

Refused to meet the demands of Wirtz bought Cherkie instead there are numerous examples of City walking away from deals and turning to next on the list with lots of success
Not in midfield. It’s very risky to not get your first choice midfielder these days. Especially because our current midfield cannot accommodate any more flops. Rodri is on his last legs and can hardly play games consistently. Silva is not there to hold new players’ hands anymore. We can’t afford to get it wrong or we will be further left behind.

Just get the deal done Hugo! Essential to the new era this signing so let’s hope Hugo is abit more dynamic that txiki in persuading khaldoon to push that bit further on the right player to get us back to the top

I might be on my own here but I'd keep Kovacic. He's happy being a squad player, has tons of experience in winning things, has genuine quality and offers something a few of our players lack - a direct cutting edge passing-wise from deep.

Legs gone mate , fresh start with younger players imo

Don't shoot the messenger but I've been told by a guy I trust, Tolmie backed his info up so I trust him, he told me that we've discussed Gibbs White during negotiations for Anderson. Gibbs White was disappointed the move didn't happen last summer had house picked out and everything.

MGW for this summer as well as Anderson mate?

Do you think Wharton is strong enough defensively. Great range of passing but a bit lightweight in the tackle maybe?
Yeah, Anderson seems much better physically, and particularly much more what we need with Bernardo leaving. But also he's deceptively far more productive. When you look at them playing, Wharton seems like the more obviously classy player, yet almost every stat I've seen puts Anderson well ahead both going forwards and defensively. Wharton would be a project, whereas Anderson would be an instant starter. For the record, I think they would be a great partnership, but if we could only have one (and we probably can), Anderson all day.
