Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

If we don't buy him, I just hope that we don't go for an alternative who was not on the radar previously, but just happens to have a blinder of a world cup.

That knee-jerk decision rarely has a happy ending.
There's been three world cups, plus a whole load of Euros, AFCONs etc since the owners took over. Can you name me one player we bought as a knee jerk decision after a tournament?

De Bruyne still won Bundesliga young player of the year and player before he signed for us. Rodri although not quite world class was still better (although not at the World Class levels) during his time in La Liga than what Anderson is coming to City at. Both were signed for less than what we are about to pay for Anderson. Some supporters don't have a heavy bias. If Anderson does start dictating the midfield of our Domestic and European rivals then fair enough he is worth his money.
Anderson was the best midfielder in the Premier League last season when you look at every statistic and compare and contrast.

If the rat faced rag wanker didn’t stat pad his assists by refusing to shoot, Anderson would have been universally considered the leagues best midfielder last season.

I watched him probably 10-15 times and he was head and shoulders above everyone else in midfield, including ours when we played them.

City know what they’re doing and I think this gets done but I’ll be gutted if he rocks up somewhere else.

He won the Player of the year not the young player

It will get done but the extra money spent on this could be used in tying down our current stars is the point I am trying to make.

Who needs to be tied down and why will this money make a difference? We’re wiping loads of the wage bill just with Stones going for example.
Both Gvardiol and Rodri (although not on a lengthy contract). Anderson is going to be on a hefty contact too. Doku deserves a pay rise too.
