England v New Zealand - Sat 6th June, 21:00 | Friendly

The best World Cup I saw was the 78’ World Cup. Final Argentina v Netherlands atmosphere was the best I have seen. The amount of ticker tape (bog roll) on the pitch and came down over the stadium was bonkers.

England didn’t even make it to the World Cup that year but still a great spectacle.
82 was the best world cup followed by 1990.

1970 for me as an eleven year old, that save from Gordon Banks, Pele’s header was in, Sunday night, it never looks as incredulous as it did live that night, the satellite commentary added to the romance.

Best ever World Cup with the greatest football team I’ve ever seen, Pep’s 22/23 treble winners not far behind though!!

82 Brazil piss on any other international team in fairness
You’re too young to remember 1970 then?
Yes, but ive seen a few games, not even close 82 was miles better

Have you seen that game since ? I've watched it recently and it doesn't stand up to the legend.

Mexico70, the best? The final was is a legendary game but there's no way the tournament could lay a glove on the following three.
You’re opinion but it was a brilliant tournament without any of the corruption of 78, there was no better team in my lifetime time than Brazil 1970, legendary, you obviously didn’t experience it if you think the next three were better.

I saw England in Tampa. Pretty disappointing squad selection to be fair. I saw 22 of the players in two halves, and have to wonder why some of them were selected by Tuchel. Mind boggling. NZ were terrible and we weren’t much better. Send Henderson, Toney, Konsa, Burn, and Mainoo home and choose some better players.

Have City been blamed for the empty seats, I see gifs have done what they did at the CWC and closed upper tiers and moved people to make it look busier no doubt tv companies will be told not to show all the footy seats going forward

Got up early went for a walk at 4.30am to listen to the Dawn chorus, literally 2 dozen different birds singing .... then came back and switched on ITVX to watch last nights game without knowing the score. … I wish I hadn't.

Have you seen these prices btw?

Na, the tournament in 1970 was better, I’ll give you 82 was great but that Brazil team 12 years earlier was iconic, you can’t rely on watching replays to determine the standard but 70 was THE bollocks.

As I wasnt around for 1970 and ive only seen snippets(seen all the final though) I will concede to you.

Still having 82 were the better though, was distraught they didnt win it, its actually annoying me now just thinking about it :-)

Despite Englands good run the 1990 World Cup is regarded as probably the worst ever. Negative tactics, high level of cheating, red cards etc.
England's good run and the matches was mainly what I was judging it on, throw in the location and the quality of the players and I remember it fondly.

The fat opera singer was pretty good too :-)
