Players who might improve us

Barcola's got one of the worst touches I've ever seen
He's a kick and run dribbler.

Im convinced that the crowd who say they want him for his dribbling have never seriously watched him.

He may have elite speed, but a weak touch and weak finish combination is not great.

Semenyo has a weak touch and is fast, but he atleast has great finishing, so its worth it for him.

Three words...

Anis Hadj Moussa.
Omds in a better team with real finishers like Haaland and Semenyo ….

He has got everything you want, he’s so fun to watch, sweet left foot he’s a mix between Mahrez and Cherki and shades of Di Maria because of his chance creation. So so good. My new favourite player to watch.

Barcola is good but the reality is, we need a left footed right winger. Semenyo’s left foot on that RW has not been good no matter how two footed he is. Not a predominantly Left winger that’s right footed. They also need to have the same profile as Savio. A willing runner with pace over long distances. Neither Semenyo or Doku are fast over long distances so that’s a profile we miss. Akliouche is another ball to feet winger that wants to come inside and not take on his man. Fernandez-Pardo is used as a striker and his dribbling numbers aren’t good.
There are no left footed right wingers out there.
Left footed right winger is the key. We need a man beating creator on the right like Doku is on the left.

I find the 2-footedness stat quite interesting as it started coming up as people realized we started buying these players, Cherki, Semenyo and Guehi.

I would argue only Cherki is truly 2 footed.

The other 2 stand out simply because they can atleast somewhat competently and regularly use their weaker foot, but its nowhere near as good as their dominant foot.

Ive been saying this since I've noticed it with Guehi, a right footed CB playing LCB, which isnt super uncommon, Van Dijk does this, but definitely not the norm.

I kind of hyperfixated on Guehis passing for a few games and noticed while he does use his left foot, he is still much better on his right foot. He kind of clears more on his left to get out of danger down the line, but he prefers cutting onto his preferred right foot alot.

Add Gvardiol to the list of 2 footed guys :)

With Marmoush possibly leaving

What about Dusan Vlahovic free agent

Didn’t we look at him last time he moved. Similar to Haaland ? Ok perhaps not a good thing maybe better going for a player that can play multiple positions seeing as Haaland will always play however not sure that worked that well last time as Marmoush doesn’t really work in either position

Minteh at Brighton always looks very dangerous whenever I watch him, but at 21 is far from the finished product and his stats aren’t too different from Savinho. Eye test suggests a high ceiling though he’d be expensive
A poor man's left footed Doku. But Doku of 3 years ago.

He currently looks better on q team that gets a lot of counter attacking opportunities, but will need to develop his dribbling and passing inside tight areas like Doku.

I am much more impressed with the Hadj Moussa. Granted, he is older and plays lesser competition currently, but his technique is at such high levels that im willing ro bet he can make that leap...

The only worry is about his confidence... Watching him now you can tell he knows he is better than everyone around him and plays with that confidence... That wont be the case when he steps up to the top level. Will he still be as confident,? That's the big if. But as the 5 attacking mid player, im willing to take the risk

I think it would be better to sign someone who can play multiple positions and can be used as a F9

also Semenyo can be a ST

Orri Oskarsson should be the striker backup
Orri Oskarsson was discussed in here 2 summers ago.

Has continued to develop and is an absolutely brilliant striker. Has so much power in his shots and is accurate. His stats are one of an elite striker.

Rumours are that he could be taken from Real Sociedad for €40m. Maybe one to consider if Marmoush decides to leave.

Won't he simply just want to leave in a year's time too?

That maybe is what we will do. Buy strikers for a couple of seasons and then move onto another one. Haalands long contract is a consequence of this effect.

If and when Haaland decides he wants to move on, hopefully we have a striker at the club ready to step into his shoes so we don’t get shafted because we sell Haaland for a large wad.

We have to have a back up striker in case Haaland gets injured. Look what happened with Rodri…we had no one to replace him.

I suppose we can do that. I view Semenyo as the backup striker. And since we are not going to get anyone to start over Haaland. I generally ignore pure strikers.

I want a skillful winger instead. So we can have 1 pure striker, Haaland. 2 pure wingers Doku and Savio's replacement (Hadj Moussa?) and 3 multi positional guys ( Cherki, Foden, Semenyo): 4 spots for 6 players
