Also the Germany v France semi final in this year stood out through the brutality of the Germans enabled by some incredibly poor officiating that allowed the German keeper Schumacher to stay on the field after he came out of goal and crashed his hip into French player Battiston's face after he had chipped the ball past the keeper which would have left him an open goal. Schumacher did not even get booked and the impact left Battiston unconscious on the pitch, resulting in broken ribs, damaged vertebrae, and the loss of three teeth.

Got up early went for a walk at 4.30am to listen to the Dawn chorus, literally 2 dozen different birds singing .... then came back and switched on ITVX to watch last nights game without knowing the score. … I wish I hadn't.

To compound the brutality, he never once checked on Batiston's injuries, showed nothing but arrogant disdain for the barely conscious victim. The referee bottled it FIFA bottled it, in front of a world-wide audience. Intentional GBH should mean a ban sine die to eradicate it from the game, same goes for Rudiger for his assault on KDB....

Still having 82 were the better though, was distraught they didnt win it, its actually annoying me now just thinking about it :-)

Agree 82 was a cracking tournament, I watched as many games as possible, a lot in the pub with my mates. I was 23 then and single, life was just a joy, City were shit but we just accepted the downward spiral we were on and enjoyed the moment.

I’m not expecting much from this tournament, it’s going to be a bit flat in the early stages due to the format but hopefully once the knockout rounds start we get some proper entertainment.

The attacking selections are horrendous. Rashford has always been average and his back up Gordon is shit. Rogers isn’t anywhere near as talented as Foden, Palmer or MGW. Just a kick and rush footballer. I also can’t get behind Bellingham, the ****. Saka is past his best at the age of 25.

Rashford this, rashford that, mainoo(manchester uniteds mainoo dont forget) and bellend both fire hopelessly high and wide and dixons on a mission to convince us that any "slight bobble" can affect the players effort!!!

All while ignoring how shit we are as a team, but dont worry, after licking the arses of our world class favourite players, (you all know who I mean) for a few games , we will be deservedly dumped out by the first decent team we play.

After that, it will be a wall to wall media witchhunt to find the scapegoat, while ignoring the fact that our(medias) world class favourite players couldnt get us anywhere near whats required to win the tournament with entertaining football.........rinse and repeat.

I have always watched the world cups, but have always enjoyed the games more when we are out or not there.

I agree on that, it gets to overboard with commentary. In all honesty, I missed most of the talk about Bellingham, it must have been when I dozed off;)

I saw England in Tampa. Pretty disappointing squad selection to be fair. I saw 22 of the players in two halves, and have to wonder why some of them were selected by Tuchel. Mind boggling. NZ were terrible and we weren’t much better. Send Henderson, Toney, Konsa, Burn, and Mainoo home and choose some better players.

The fact Dan fucking burn made the squad tells you how bad England are these days.
