Cheltenham. Hotbed for music??

I think it's a classical music hotbed. Certainly won't be musical excellence at the races next week. The Irish covers band in the Guinness Village plays the same songs in the same order every year

The chap who founded the Rolling Stones in the early sixties , Brian Jones , came from Cheltenham ......

as do bands 'Swift Maneuvre' and 'The Howlers' ...... whoever the fuck they are!

Bristol has produced Massive Attack , kosheen , and Portishead.

I'm none too sure , but maybe even the Wurzels came from that part of the world.

Bristol has come out top. Manc is 7th.

In 5th place is Cheltenham. Who the hell has come from Cheltenham???

Bwahahahahahahah

This has to be based on the Brian Jones legacy, cus we have absolutely fuck-all in the way of music success. Shite local band circuit (although Gloucester, 7 mile away has a mint scene), very few practice/recording studios, and hardly ever a decent band touring here.

The best of the musice scene here has to be the annual Jazz festival which to be fair attracts top acts from all over the globe, (i suppose this could contribute to the table), but if like me, you can take or leave Jazz, then Cheltenham is so not the place to be for live music.

A few decent nightclubs tho to suit most tastes!
