He did well but we can't kid ourselves he is exceptionally young and chances are he'll have just as many bad games as good because of his sheer lack of experience. I hope people don't write him off if he turns in a couple of bad performances, the kid has a great amount of potential and we have to be careful in how we help develop his obvious talent.

What i'm trying to say is lets not do the typical overhype job as we might end up writing him off if he doesn't meet our unfairly high expectations. Lets just be quietly confident and hope he keeps his head down and works hard ;)

you are not allowed to talk sense on here I'm afraid ;-)
great post though and totally agree

He looked a little nervous at the start of the game, and gave the ball away cheaply a couple of times, but that's to be expected from such a young player. Soon settled into the game and was unlucky not to score when he hit the bar, and showed some great touches as his confidence grew.

I think at this stage of his career he's best off staying with City rather than going out on loan. He can continue his education under Vieira, whilst making occasional first team appearances in the domestic cups. Looks like he could have a big future if he continues progressing at this rate.

Needs to start being involved more often with the first team

Either that or playing week.in week out on loan. Preferably at premier league level from January.
He's 17....... no premier league club is going to play a 17 year old. He's still a year or two off being loaned out, imo. Too early yet.

Eeerm...Rooney, Owen, Milner...........

Sterling, Ronaldo, Rooney, Owen, Fowler, Rodwell, Walcott, Luke Shaw, Ross Barkley, Wilshere, Beckham, Giggs etc etc etc.

Judging by his performance last nigh the lad deserves to be on the bench for some of the easier Prem games and getting 15 to 30 minutes if we are winning comfortably. This is the way to develop a player of his age, asking him to play 90 minutes week in week out on loan for a team playing at a high level is probably too much for him yet. Get him a decent few appearances of the bench this year (or starting the cup games against lower league opposition) and then loan him out next season to a lower Prem team or to Holland/Portugal.

This should start with putting him on the bench for the Villa game, would give the lad (and the entire youth setup) a strong vote of confidence from the Manager

Barkley ;), Fowler, Richards, Walcott, Oxlaide Chamberlain, Johnson, Sterling, Wilshere, Ferdinand to name a few in the past and present. the list is long so I wont carry on

He's had a taster now, keep his feet on the ground and put him back in the EDS for a couple, then reintroduce for the next round of this cup.

No 'easy' games in the prem,as we've found out already......

They were the clubs' OWN player though. They have a reason to want to develop them and give them experience. I really don't see a Premier League club loaning a 17 year old that isn't even their player and playing him regularly. Just don't see it. The league is too high stakes for teams to do that. They would rather blood their own youngsters or loan a player with more experience.
