Virgin media using my connection for next door help!

Cheeky bastards. I'd want at least 50% off my bill for the duration.

I'd want more than that - like free broadband, mobile phones and the best package they have for nothing for life, otherwise they end up in court looking like the thieving cunts they are.
Branson or Murdoch - what a fucking choice.
It's like a choice between sucking off Neville or rimming Ferguson.

I take it you didn't give them permission to come onto your property ?
Nope!!!!

I'd kick off big time with the twats. They still owe me money from about 4 years ago. The twats took an extra months money when I forgot to cancel the dd. When I rang them up to get it back, they refused point blank to talk to me because I was no longer a customer.

There will be forums that specialise in this sort of stuff. Have a search for one and you should find out exactly where you stand legally. Once you know, you can ring the twats up and go for the throat.

A mate of mine owns a cable website and this is what he told me.

each line is capable of 1.5gb p/s which is more than adequate, they could however of put you on the same segment which could be over subscribed.

theey could have put him on the same segment though
[18:26:53] : tel him to ring them and explain internet is wired he has no spyware nothing has changed in terms of configurations
[18:27:07] : and that your internet speeds are not what he pays for

i did just that and they moved me to a different ubr and now get a constant 120

Re the above what Stony put, <a class="postlink" href="http://www.moneysavingexpert.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.moneysavingexpert.com</a> might be a good place to start

They should not have done that without asking you full stop.

Get on and tell them your not happy with this at all if your not and want it fixing that day because they had no right.
If you act like an old fuddy duddy and say maybe they use your internet and you dunno what is going on etc you may even get some money of :)

Bit cheeky of the engineer tbh, could have at least asked to come on your property and see if it was ok with you.

We had that. TiVo and Internet was crap, engineer came out as we complained about connection, he checked outside for the feed and said that shouldn't happen (shared cable feed) and booked us an engineer to sort it. Never happened and Virgin denied any knowledge-when we were lucky enough to speak to someone that understood/spoke English (their outsourced Indian call centres are dreadful)
To top it off, BT failed to eBill us so we didn't pay our bill and they cut us off without warning !!!
Via moneysavingexpert we got a 50% off code for sky- phone, BB and ALL channels (sport/movies inc) £ 47 p/m

I have had a word with a family member who works for Virgin, and they said it is common practice to do this - with your permission - when there is a fault they cannot immediately rectify for access reasons or whatever. Normal practice is to have it rectified within 48 hours.

yes it will affect your service adversely, in the ways you have described.

As usual, kick off and see what you can get in compensation, but don't be expecting to retire early on the proceeds :)
