What's this bollocks about? We need another CDM, not to use one as a 'makeweight' to get someone we could get on a free in the summer anyway, hope this is the MEN talking out their arses.

TBF it's not a bad deal at all. Fernando is a huge upgrade on Garcia.

We have had to play Demichellis in midfield recently and have done this as Garcia is not suited to the PL.
Fernando can't play in the Champs League as he's already played for Porto, so no it doesn't make sense...

But if we can rest Yaya and Fernandinho more then we have a better chance of picking up 3 or 4 trophies because they'll both be fitter for the important games, and if either gets a longer term injury then we will have a match fit player ready to drop in.

Yes, but if either of them get injured/sent off then what have we really got in central mid? Rodwell, Milner & MDM. I think Javi has done ok, I agree this guy looks like an upgrade but IF we are to do anything in the Champs League then we need a full quota of midfielders available IMO.

Not a lot happening down at the ground. Although I've just seen john henshaw in the merc garage. Had his city scarf on too.

City double swoop for Mangala and Fernando becoming less likely

Sportsmail's Chris Wheeler reports: 'Latest from Manchester City is that the double signing of Mangala and Fernando today cannot be ruled out but it is looking increasingly unlikely.

'City are happy to continue negotiations with FC Porto over a deal for the summer when Fernando will be a free agent, and Mangala is also understood to be comfortable with that scenario because he is concerned about changing clubs so close to the World Cup.

'Manuel Pellegrini will hold his weekly press conference at 12.30pm today but expect the City boss to say very little about the bid.'

According to Sportsmail's Chris Wheeler, it's looking unlikely, certainly the Mangala deal before Summer at least.

Am I the only one prefer to get him in the summer for free instead of paying +8 million now ?

If one of Toure or Fernandinho gets injured (extended period), its season over imo, we need cover. Paying 8 million now, to avoid this, is worth every penny.

You have a valid point.

Really hoping this comes off. Defensive midfield is Exactly where we are most exposed.

If this double swoop comes off, we will win the league comfortably imo. As it stands we are the best team in the country but an injury to Kompany and/or Fernandinho and you'd have to say it could get very difficult, this would sort both problems out. Not expecting it to go through though, I suspect the selling club will (as usual) try to take the piss and I don't think our Spaniards will accept that for one minute. Fingers crossed though.
