Reg Dunlop and the Olympiakos game in Minneapolis thread

Hey gents! My group of 8 will be coming up for the entire weekend. Would love to find a place to have a drink and meet up before the match. Does anyone know if there are any other fan activities planned besides just the match?

Surprisingly little has been made public. I have heard about tailgating, including an event put on by the MInnesota Soccer Association (not aware of who they are to be honest) in the MInnesota Lot next to the stadium (east side of stadium). From 11:30-1:30.

We have come up empty in our search for a gathering in a local tavern. So instead my group is considering tailgating as I bveileve we have a tailgating pass. So we'll head to the parking area and sit and empty some beer bottles for a few hours.

Brits is a good choice near the hotels. Before the match they'll want to be nearer the stadium as it's a 20-minute train from where they are likely staying in the downtown part of MInneapolis.

Again, I offer my services and knowldge of the city to any City fans in need. I will be down there 4 hours before the kick. Still haven't decided on what I'll be doing -- figured I would know where the mass of blue shirts will be by this point.

If nothing else I will tailgating with a cooler of beer in the parking lot, bbqing some lunch. Send a message if you are a city fan and would like to join us. There is a place to buy beer nearby.

Also, for anyone not familiar with the area. If you are looking at a long list of beer draft handles, Summit should be your choice. Brewed here. Summit EPA, Saga IPA the best of the bunch. Another local brew of quality is Surly Furious. Got a bite to it.

Yeah, get right up the arse of the driver in front.

Seriously though. I'll unlikely be attending an American sporting event but have to say the tailgating idea seems a great one. Loads of fans drinking beer, eating food all together would create a great atmosphere before a game IMO.

I'd like to know a bit more about it out of interest.

^^^cheers mate.

Without wanting to sound like an arse I know I could google the answer but was looking for a fans perspective. I'm sure people on here could give a better description of the pre-Wembley time on the roundabout than I'd read in most places on the net.

Parking info is here:

(yeah that's a university page but it is linked from the international cup site)

There are separate lots for parking pass holders and for single-game parkers. I don't know the cost to park but it's likely to be higher than you expect. Parking for Vikings games (for tailgating) is $40 per car. Don't think it will be that high as the demand won't be as high. But expect at least $25, probably north of $30.

We will be in the Gold lot, which is a season pass lot. I will send you a message with my contact info if you want me to check once we get there if your group could park in the Gold lot too, which is right in the shadow of the stadium.
