Off in December for a short break, any recommendations on things to see?

Not concerned about the alcohol prices, but any recommendations for good Scandanavian restaurants?

We'll be spending a day in either Stockholm, Gothenburg or Trondheim - aware of the travalling times by train from Oslo to each one, and the price (which puts the British rail system to shame) - any recommendations on which one we should choose to go to?

I loved Oslo, went there in December and it was beautiful in the snow; but bloody freezing

I can't remember the name of the seafood restaurant we went to

These look great though

Bølgen & Moi, Tjuvholmen, just across from Aker Brygge, or loads of eating places at Aker Brygge itself. Otherwise just buy fresh prawns from the boats in the harbour, straight down from the town hall.

Grand Hotel's got a stylish restaurant, where the Nobel prize winners stay. (Well, they don't stay in the restaurant...)

As you're travelling in December, why not stay in Norway and do Oslo and Trondheim? The train journey goes over the magnificent Dovre mountain area, and you should get to see reindeer and musk ox. You'll be above the snow line, even if the snow hasn't really settled in the capital by then. It's a long, 7-hour journey, but you could always take the day train one way and the sleeper on the return.

There's also the popular triangular trip - Oslo-Bergen-Trondheim, where the Bergen-Trondheim leg is aboard the Hurtigruten coastal express ship.
