Barca's transfer ban upheld. They're fucked and powerless to prevent what's about to happen.

But if they can't sing anyone, wouldn't they be even more interested in keeping the players they have?

Loosing Messi would mean Suarez would be played centrally, in his by far best position. And even though he would not score as many goals as Messi, I think the whole team would score almost as many goals without Messi, considering everything now has to go through him. it would in a sense set them them free. Neymar on the left, Pedro on the right with Suarez in the middle is still a formidable attack force.

Release Clause?

The release is £120m to anyone outside of Spain (Real)

Barca were at liberty to inform Messi when it was met by Anzhi.

If I am being honest it doesn't stop us activating the release clause. It's just down to us convincing the player Manchester is the place to be and keeping UEFA away from our door.

It's different in Spain as it's a buyout clause more than what we understand as a release clause, which entitles the player to talk to the interested club if they meet the required amount. In Spain it's not the buying club who trigger the release clause but the player. And as long as the money is paid (by him) then he's released from his contract. So the transfer would involve us transferring the money to Messi, who then buys out his contract which frees him to sign with another club.

From a purely football point of view I'm convinced we could spend £120million on several players, rather than just the one.

That said, with the shit our blessed owner and chairman have taken these last few years from virtually the entire worlds media, I would , to coin a keeganesque phrase, LOVE IT if we signed Messi.

Just try for a minute guys and gals to imagine the utter horror, anger, spite, jealousy, and rage that would ensue from the G14 and their acolytes were such a transfer to happen.

It would be simply amazing, and for that reason alone, I'm in.

Get it done, please city, get it done

£120m for Messi sounds a very good price. Did Bale go for £95m?

Let's hope Messi likes what he has seen and heard of Manchester and wants a change of scenery. Messi & Aguero up front is a fantastic thought.
