Probably not a popular opinion on here but Sturridge would solve many of our problems on and off the field.
And anyone suggesting Fernando is anywhere near as good a player as Saints' Schneiderlin is mentally ill. Fernando is a tall Nigel DeJong, without the passing ability. A travesty of a footballer.
16m pissed away on a fella nobody else wanted.
Just like Mangala, a piss-poor footballer nobody else was interested in, yet we still overpaid.
A terrible, unforgivable waste of money in the post FFP climate.

What are the off field problems we are having? Are you suggesting he goes to New York?
I'm more confused by how Sturridge will solve any problems.
Maybe he's a qualified cake baker?

Not only association trained but club trained. He came from out academy and is way, way better than Jovetic.
He ticks more than one box for us, especially post FFP.
As for the goon who accused me of being a rag, all I can do is shake my head, compare life stories and remind myself why I haven't bothered coming on here for a couple of years.
See y'all in 2017.
Maybe when Mangala (now 24. 20 fucking 4!!!) will still be a flat footed, square on, clumsy, positionally clueless of a centre half. But people still talk about his 'potentail' like Sol Campbell.
He is 24, not 14.
Look how Lukaku (younger) stood him up, got him square on and then absolutely raped him.
If he hasn't learned these basics of defending, he never will.
We have pissed our money away. You know it, I know it. Only the Txixi fanboys deny it
Though even in five years time some on here will be calling him a 'young player who needs time to adapt'

Did you have a similar opinion of Fenandinho last year at this time by chance? Fernando does his job well. Mangala has shown he can be dominant in this league. Give them time. I expect you will be eating your words come May.
Always been a huge Fernandinho fan, even when he was being slagged from the terraces. Love him. He's a different level of footballer to Fernando and Mangala

What did you think of Kompany at that age. You bring up Lukaku, how do you think he did against Costa? Not having a go....I just think that at 24 with his size and pace, Mangala has everything it takes to be dominant in this league. He is young for a CB. We have seen world class moments from him and we have seen him in disarray. That suggests to me that when he fully settles he will be a an absolute beast. In hindsight, I would rather have had him on the pitch over Kompany on Sunday.

Again, loved Vinnie from day 1 and his debut v West Ham, because it was obvious he could play.
Even if Hughes made him a reserve DM.
He isn't fit yet, same as Sergio. That explains Sunday.
Fernando and Mangala are athletes but terrible with the ball at their feet. Thats the big difference. They are Champions League veterans who can't play. Vinnie, Dinho etc can.
To thnk Mangala would have done better against nippy, pacy players who tried to get our CBs on the turn? Wow. Just..... wow.
He's done really well against that type so far, hasn't he?

Not sure what the rant is all about mate. Just asking what are the off field problems that he could solve?

This may be one of the worst things I have ever read.
"Sturridge would solve many of our problems on and off the field."
What problems off the field?
How would Sturridge solve off the field problems anyway?
And, in fact, how would he solve on the field problems from the treatment table?

"Fernando is a tall Nigel De Jong, without the passing ability. A travesty of a footballer."
You have it the wrong way round there mate. De Jong was just a short Fernando without the passing ability.

"16m pissed away on a fella nobody else wanted."
Wrong on 2 fronts:
1. He was £12m

Wrong on 2 fronts, again:
1. He's clearly not piss-poor, just watch his debut vs Chelsea.

Our quota issues with association and especially club trained players. ill only be worse when Milner goes.
Sturridge wold help us in this respect, on two counts.
Boyata wouldn't get in Blackburn's team but is in our squad against Barcelona, purely down to HG numbers.

Mangala was brilliant against Chelsea. How many good games has he had since? 1 maybe 2?
You can quote stats all you want, they are NOT footballers. Playing sideways 10-yard passes will always make your stats look good. Making basic goal-costing errors may not show up on heat maps or whatever the modern football fan takes as gospel, but people who've watched the game for 40 years knows a fuck-up when they see one
