Borussia Mönchengladbach travel thread

Absolutely class couple of days out there! Made the mistake of getting a taxi to the ground from the square in Monchengladbach and ended up sitting in traffic whilst the shuttle busses from the square flew past us with the police escort!
Decided to get the bus back though, could've turned a bit naughty when a driver refused to open the doors to let the fans in, and the bus next to him set off - almost trapping blues in front and to the side of it. Luckily no harm done!

Thought it was a breeze from glad beach to ground.didnt see any police escorts.gladbach fans were either friendly or disinterested. I like German trips.treat them as you like to be treated and you can't fail to have a good time. The result was the icing on the cake.

Thought organisation after the game was good.Directed to the shuttle buses to Gladbach station where it was fast with buses turning up all the time. Got to the train station and train already on the platform waiting to be filled. Was entertained on the train by a group of city fans who decided to sing as many Oasis songs as they could, good trip.

Yeah, no complaints from me, back in Düsseldorf by midnight and Old Town before 12.30. Didn't have any real problem going to the ground from Reydht either but I left about 7 so it was probably a bit quieter, but I was a bit pissed by then anyway.

Had no issues in Monchengladbach as @Champions2012! said.
Straight forwards there and back, just a little waiting time before setting off both times.
Drinking in the small square from mid day till bust time was brilliant with the sun shining on the righteous, they ran out of beer by 4pm so on to the dark beer.
Brilliant trip let down by lying UEFA officials and the fucking A1 north. Got off the plane at 3.45 PM back in sunny Rossendale at 11.30pm

So i did get back before you

Sat in the airport bar waiting for flight home had great few days

Which airport? We came back via Amsterdam , good night out last night but our flight home this morning has been cancelled due to fog. Now got a six hour wait for the next on direct to Manchester. Taken the gloss off an otherwise belting trip

Arrived Tuesday into Dortmund. Quite night, which TBH was grateful knowing what would be drunk the following day. Train to Gladbach then headed straight to the Old Town with @squirtyflower . Sun was out and beer was available. Decided to delay checking in into the new digs for a few hours (5) - Beer a penty until they ran out at about 1600. Only Dark Beer available, still not a bad drop. Checked in to our overnight abode, then back to the square. Few more beers. Buses then turned up at 1930 to take us to the ground. Excellent service by the German authorities. Game came and went. Back on the coaches then back the Square in Gladbach. Ended up in one bar with a great mix of City and Gladbach fans. Songs were sung and more beer drunk showing football fans can mix despite the result. One German fan in particular was adopted by the City fans for being the double of Pab Zab! Great Day, Great night. Long day yesterday waiting to travel back. Arrived home, knackered, sore throat with great memories at 2230 last night

The annoying thing was the 2 EMPTY lanes that they weren't using mate. Still, gave us plenty of time to pull out the full repertoire of "old school" songs on the bus.

Bearing in mind the shambles on the buses on the way in, me and my mate thought we'd be clever on the way back to Rheydt, so skipped the cordon and stared to walk, thinking we could jib a bus away from the stadium. How wrong could you be, those buses were never stopping. Ended up walking the whole way to the train stadium, took us 2 hours to walk about 8km, just made it in time to catch the 12:30 train to Monchengladbach, then change trains to get to Dusseldorf. Not the best decision we'll ever make..

we were staying in Rheyd but did not realise the fan zone thingy was there
ended up getting taxis everywhere
was there buses going back there after the game then?

Yes mate, a convoy of bendy buses and double deckers..

I'm not sure I'd use the term "fan-zone", it was a couple of bars and some buses. If that was a fan-zone, City Square would be nominated for the 8th wonder of the world..

Got back about midnight last night after an excellent 2 day trip with Bredbury stopping in Cologne - Wednesday afternoon in Monchengladbach in and around Rheiyt - thought it was going to be much busier but food/beer/company was excellent - in and out of ground with military precision on our own well stocked (cough) Belgian bus back to to Cologne - more beer after the game and then most of Thursday in Cologne down by the Rhine and in the Altmarkt soaking up sun and Kolsch beers - superbly executed trip went off without a single hitch... until the Manchester Airport Power Cut yesterday jammed the Arrivals Doors shut so took half an hour to get off the plane combined with the usual COMPLETE inability to process people at T3 Passport Control - total disgrace by the Airport as usual!
