PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

What I mean is all the PL clubs voted for covid losses to be allowed and if a club claims losses due to covid the amount of loss had to be evidenced to be accepted.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

From my understanding all clubs agreed to covid losses and the losses made by each club due to covid would have had to be evidenced to the PL.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Gotcha, thanks for the info as I couldn't understand that part but that makes sense.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Can anyone explain why hmrc might be involved if the allegations were proven? Wouldnt hmrc have already applied the standard rate of tax to the sponsorship amount in total and not care who paid what?

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

I kinda think this may not have been concluded based on your comment above. I would expect Newcastle to have complained if the rules have reverted back to one's that opened them up for related sponsors yet they are being prevented in some way.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Oh yes I definitely think the PL think they have a case to answer but who knows if what they think is correct. As far as slam dunks I don't think I have ever felt that way but on cases you bring you have to be confident and ensure you have the evidence and procedures has been followed to...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I would argue that dropping the case would have been bad due to people's assumption of guilt but if the evidence supplied did not show on the balance of probability that there was a case to answer then it is the correct course of action. That said it could be completely different from...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I guess this depends if there was compliance with the court order. Regardless city will know everything the PL has as they would have supplied it to the PL or would have received it as part of any pack for the accusation/hearing.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I tend to agree with this, the PL seem to think they have a case otherwise they could have just reviewed evidence and said no case to answer. I don't necessarily think the PL is right but I struggle to understand why they would go over the stuff CAS has already cleared, seems like insanity to do...

City fined over £2m by PL | Sanction agreed for 22 breaches relating to ko delays

I read it as they had received fines before for the earlier breaches as it states they had fines previously which started from £5000 and had increased up to £50000 for further breaches. offences 13 and 14 brought the fines mentioned in the article.

City fined over £2m by PL | Sanction agreed for 22 breaches relating to ko delays

The PL have already previously fined Crystal Palace for the same thing. https://www.lawinsport.com/topics/news/item/premier-league-confirms-that-crystal-palace-fc-has-been-fined-by-an-independent-commission-for-breach-of-league-match-requirements-under-rule-l-31

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Yep that was my assumption based on the fact she needed loans from nufc.

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

That's the one I had read about. I always thought it strange that she is allegedly worth so much but was having to borrow money twice from nufc for the legal costs.

I think Staveley has just lost a court case and owes someone a few million. Wouldn't be surprised if she sold her stake as needed funds.

I wonder if the PL handbook has to published by a certain time. Noted it was 21st July publishing date for 23/24

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

You ask a good question. Does the UK court ruling mean that the PL are within their rights to ask for external info from the start of the PL, start of the investigation in 2018 or from the point of the ruling (mid 2021). It is not clear to me. I suppose it depends on if this ruling just...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

That was around the merit order back in 2021. City and the PL wanted the proceedings to remain private but the PL also wanted to be able to tell other clubs for any future arbitration. This argument about telling others was the main reason the end result was that it was in the public interest...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I agree, that was the point I was trying to say as showing it in the books although not in that period adds evidence to any argument.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I read that too. This would at a minimum provide 2 years (probably 3) of financial accounts so could help even if it would not cover the period of the PL charges.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

As someone who used to draft and approve/decline secondary employment contracts we would look at the following (in the UK) : working time regulations and potential opt out, reputational risk (we would not allow people to do a similar 2nd job or imply this second job is in anyway connected to the...
