    Ipswich (H) - Sat 24th Aug | PL | Pre-Match Thread

I don't see Rodri starting. I wonder if he's even training yet? I'd guess Ake and Foden start. It's a bit random, but there's A LOT of competition in the backline. Even more so with Lewis's start to the season. Stones and Walker are currently looking in from the outside.

    Ilkay Gundogan - Done Deal

Jesus Christ. One can be happy Ilkay is coming back while also having some concerns about what it means for others.

    Who's said that?

    Ilkay Gundogan - Done Deal

I'm glad he's coming back, but I do worry about what it means for others far less than his ability to perform. -Fewer minutes in the middle for Phil after a POTY season there. He's made it clear he's not a winger anymore. -Any chance of minutes for McAtee is indeed gone now -Are we throwing in...

Phil Foden PFA Player of the Year and 4 City players in PFA Team of the Year

Seems I'm not the only one baffled by his inclusion.

A lot. I genuinely had no idea that Walker being bad last season was seemingly an unpopular opinion until about an hour ago. Ha.

Phil Foden PFA Player of the Year and 4 City players in PFA Team of the Year

We were literally discussing our likes of Nunes this morning... but yeah, you got me! I'm a Chelsea fan!

You say a player "shits all over" another. I respond with evidence that he doesn't "shit all over" him. In fact, it's the opposite, and I sound "mentally unwell"? I think it's past your bedtime, little girl!

Phil Foden PFA Player of the Year and 4 City players in PFA Team of the Year

I assure you, it's possible, but there's no point in us even discussing things if you think Walker was a 'standout' in the Euros in a positive way because we clearly see the game in almost opposites.

I'm going to be completely honest. After I read that, I stopped reading what you wrote. I'm sorry you wasted your time writing all that out.

Phil Foden PFA Player of the Year and 4 City players in PFA Team of the Year

No, he doesn't. Not by any metric. Fifteen more goals and assists, better creative numbers, similar defensive numbers, better finisher on his xG, etc. If you put Palmer in Odegaards' spot last year, they pip us to the title, in my opinion.

Phil Foden PFA Player of the Year and 4 City players in PFA Team of the Year

You don't think Walker was the best RB in the league last year, do you...? He's a legend, but he was a million miles off it, capped off by his performances in CL and the FA Cup final.

White should have been in over Walker as well. Although, Palmer should undoubtedly be in over one of Rice or Odegaard, IMO.

Phil Foden PFA Player of the Year and 4 City players in PFA Team of the Year

What an achievement. First English player to win it in 15 years(Rooney in 2009). Palmer also winning the YPOTY is an incredible look for the academy.

    Ilkay Gundogan - Done Deal

He killed us just last season, albeit Walker was on him. There's still an excellent player there, and that's coming from someone who wasn't too sad to see him go.

    Ilkay Gundogan - Done Deal

To be honest, I'd take Sterling back. Doku has a big-time injury history, Bobb won't be back for a long while, Savio looked excellent but is still a new player, etc.

    Cole Palmer

Congrats to him. Maybe he'll come back in a decade when his contract is done.

The fact that she's not on the traveling list is pretty telling, I fear.

    Ilkay Gundogan - Done Deal

I can completely understand how people could say this for someone like Phillips, who, from minute one, looked entirely out of his depth, but I really don't know how people can say the same for Nunes. In the little opportunities he's gotten, he's played well overall. As I said in his thread, Pep...
