Premier league Games 14/15 Sept 2024

If I had a nickel for every time Everton went up 2-0 and ended up losing 3-2, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice in a row.

Pickford isn't all that, but I don't think anyone was saving that.

That's one of the best strikes you'll ever see. Stunning.

    31 | Ederson - 2024/25

I know it comes with the territory of being a goalkeeper, but it's disappointing to see no love here. It's scary to think how great Brentford's press would have looked if we didn't have a keeper with his quality to use a pressure release. Watching their goal back, it sure looks like Stones just...

    27 | Matheus Nunes - 2024/25

I thought versus a team like Brentford, playing man-to-man is where his skill set would be helpful—receiving the ball and beating his man with his pace to get the ball up-field. Similar to what Doku does for us on the wing.

    9 | Erling Haaland - 2024/25

Single-handedly carrying my god-awful FPL team.

    10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

Even McAtee. I want Grealish to start playing well, but he's been nothing but a winger since arriving at City. Hence, this notion that he's being held back over there because of some decent to good performances with England more centrally versus bottom-feeder countries is ridiculous.

    2 | Kyle Walker - 2024/25

He was arguably the reason we conceded versus Rodrygo early in the game last year. Not to mention, he was nowhere even near the scene where we conceded a goal against United in the FA Cup.

    47 | Phil Foden - 2024/25

Surprised he didn't come on... I hope everything is all good behind the scenes.

    Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

Because we have 10x as much quality? Pep is the best of all time, but it's okay to give props to an opposition manager, Kaz. Even Pep has off days like players.

    16 | Rodri 2024/25

Good first performance on the whole.

    Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

I thought Gvardiol was a good sub, but I couldn't believe he kept Walker on. I also was sure he'd make some more changes to the midfield, as Brentford bypassed it almost at will. I think it's fair to say Frank got the better of him today, and a team with more quality than Brentford could have...

    2 | Kyle Walker - 2024/25

That's pretty damn generous. Like last year? He was almost solely responsible for two of the three goals we conceded versus Madrid and United the previous season.

    24 | Joško Gvardiol - 2024/25

Good cameo. That composure when he carried the ball from midfield into the box to put it on a plate for Savinho was incredible.

    Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

Not he and his assistants best day in the office, IMO.

Brentford (H) - PL | Post Match Thread

I would instead take lessons while taking all three points than not, but there are many lessons to take from that, to put it nicely. Massive credit to Brentford. Their man-to-man press is relentless. If/when Pep does leave, I wouldn't be mad at all at Frank being in the mix to replace him.

    19 | Ilkay Gundogan - 2024/25

That's not even close to true, but as I always tell you, there's an 'ignore' option for a reason.

    10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

He is here. He's not better centrally than anyone we have.

    19 | Ilkay Gundogan - 2024/25

Judging by the first two comments, I felt like I was watching a different game. I thought he was miles off the mark. Brentford's midfield was going past him like he wasn't there.

    10 | Jack Grealish - 2024/25

He was tough to watch today. I like him, but for the first time, I felt like his body language was telling and not in a good way. He desperately needs a goal or a Pep talk.
