    United Thread | 2024/25

Didn’t think it was a red at the time, and it should have been rescinded in the pitch. Makes a bit of a mockery of VAR. Not convinced an appeal would’ve been successful if it was a different club, mind you. Not that it really matters. Fernandes is more of a hindrance to United on current form.

    11 | Jeremy Doku - 2024/25

He was excellent in the first half. Faded a bit in the second half, but still our best player on the night.

    Middle East Conflict

I find myself avoiding these threads where possible these days, unless posts are reported, as they tend to be a bit toxic and many are so entrenched in their views that it makes any kind of rational discussion almost impossible. Feels like those who squarely blame one party, without ever...

    Middle East Conflict

Been a bit difficult to keep an eye on this tonight, what with the game going on so only just catching up. Obviously it’s an emotive topic, but let’s try and keep the discussion sensible. If you’re just here to point score or antagonise others, then you’ll be thread banned. We’re going back and...

    2 | Kyle Walker - 2024/25

Not the worst crime in the world, but he really doesn't do himself any favours either. He seems incapable of keeping himself out of the tabloids.

Presume we’ll see some rotation, but think Pep will go a lot stronger than some are suggesting. Ederson Walker Stones Dias Gvardiol Gundogan Bernardo Foden Savio Doku Haaland

McAtee should be on there too. He travelled as part of the squad.

    Great finish from Delap.

Newcastle Utd PL (A) | Man of the Match

I went for Grealish. Gvardiol played well, and scored a great goal, but was caught out of position a few times.

Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

It wasn’t a bad point in the circumstances. Newcastle away is never an easy game, and without Rodri and De Bruyne (plus Ake and Bobb) it was always going to be a challenging fixture. I think a draw was just about a fair result. It’s going to take time for Pep to find the right balance in the...

Yes, just starting noticing this myself. Not sure why it’s happening, but have reported it so hopefully will have it removed asap. Apologies for any inconvenience.

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Yeah, I didn’t think the Middle Eastern reference was particularly racist in the context of that article. It’s hardly akin to Barney Ronay’s “grinning beards” comment.

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

This is true, of course, but equally I think companies like Nissan, Puma, Sony etc just want to be associated with the dominant team in the most popular league in the world. It’s clearly not mere cronyism. The likes of Jamie Carragher may not understand the shifting sands, but the times they are...

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

There’s been no statement from the club, other than a spokesman saying “As you know, we are not in a position to comment…”. Lawton is clearly well connected though, with one of his close colleagues being married to Arsenal’s CCO, so I think it’s naive to suggest that he’s purely guessing here...

    Pub for Newcastle?

Just wondering whereabouts in Newcastle Blues will be drinking before the game?

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

The thread title is still fine imo - there were reports that City had secured a "potentially significant victory". Whether or not those reports were true remains to be seen, however.

Newcastle certainly haven't tweeted anything about this.
