The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

You raise some interesting points some of which I agree with and others less so. It'll probably derail the thread to get into them and there's probably a thread somewhere where I can go off on one about the evils of social media and it's amplication of difference for profit. So I'll leave it at...

    Ten Hag sacked! (P 416)

Yep, I might actually get a bit twitchy if they get a manager who rocks up on day one and says "tell that whiskey addled git to get out of my parking space...now". We'd then be reliant on the press to whip up a mob to drive them out of town for the 'disrespect' they'd shown. Hopefully leaving...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

You are quite mischievous, I think you know full well when Stevie talks about a dollar he does not mean it literally :-) That said I don't feel compelled to defend that song but I suppose when Stevie Wonder comes to you with a song to record it's pretty hard to turn down. B&Ws original review...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Sort of tangential to the pick itself but one of the things that endears GCJ to me is the blak and blu signature Casino he did. It's not uncommon for signature versions to a bit of a rip off but this looked gorgeous and was fantastic value for money with a bigsby and American p90s for a little...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

That thing B&W posted makes Cadbury's Dairy Milk look like a bar of BareBones Single Origin Madagascar. I assume if it's like taffy it's got a chewy texture but it seems like its actually peanut butter/caramel flavour, looks and sounds foul. The album pick is another matter entirely.

That bar sounds absolutely rank. Edit: Just had a look at one, looks more like a chewy kind of peanut butter or caramel than what I thought taffy was but hard to tell. Either way it doesn't look appetising.

Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

Yes, though by all accounts she didn't have a great experience on it. Though apparently her and Lee did make up subsequently.

Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

Good shout. I tend to associate that track with Fear of a Black Planet and I'd forgotten, if I'd ever realised in the first place, that Do The Right Thing came first. It was on recently, still very watchable.

Blue Moon Playlist Review Club - Season 2 - Episode 27 - Out on blue 6 - Gone Too Soon (pg 438)

I can now cross that off my, not very short, shortlist to nominate. You could fill the entire playlist with John Barry music from both big and small screen. My personal favourites this week are All The Time In The World and the motif from You Only Live Twice but that could easily change next...

    Red Cafe in meltdown

Actually the tone of your response is not entirely dissimilar to the one he sent me, are you sure you're not actually him ? :-))

    Boris Johnson

I get that and the vast majority of us do it too but it was a deliberate misdirection on his part to soften/disguise who he really was and so for me using it is to continue to play the game on his terms. The only time IMO it'll be acceptable to refer to him as Boris is when that name is...

    Red Cafe in meltdown

Alright Garry? Nice to see you in these parts but shouldn't you be concentrating on your bluenose friends? Btw - I never did get round to thanking you for the dignified, self-effacing and wittily dry response you sent me to the unnecessarily sarcastic and over personal rant I sent you all those...

    Boris Johnson

The generous interpretation of LKs latter career is that she was simply promoted beyond her skillset. She was essentially a reporter with a good nose and some connections and therefore able to break stories but that's a world away from being the political editor. That's before you get into the...

    Boris Johnson

Kuenssberg continues to almost single handedly destroy the credibility of the BBC's political coverage. Normally quite quick to indulge in self flagellation over stuff like dancers getting arsey with each other, the BBC appears less keen to report this story?

Great choice, have high hopes on your behalf for this one! GCJ does exactly the type of melange I like and another of a long line of great musicians from Austin.
