    United Thread - 2023/24

It’s amazing how badly run they are. Their incompetence in the last decade or so might be the worst in all of team sports

Match Thread | Man City vs Fulham (02/09/23)

Pep has put far too much trust in Akanji. Kovacic, Foden, Alvarez have all been shifted around to allow him to play in the middle when in possession. Why?

    Cole Palmer

True but Mahrez was largely playing a back up role last season. Think it could’ve been a big show of faith in the academy to let Palmer pick up his minutes, but instead we went for Doku. I’m not mad at it just a bit disappointed, especially with how Cole showed signs of promise vs Arsenal and...

    Cole Palmer

I actually agree with you. In my eyes Palmer was more than ready to step in to Mahrez’ shoes but evidently the club didn’t see it that way It’s a bad look on the academy.

Assessment of our business this summer | Poll Added

We’ve got more depth than last season which is a positive LB/LCB - Gvardiol, Ake CB - Dias, Stones, Akanji RB - Walker, Rico 6 - Rodri, Phillips 8 - Kovacic, Nunes, Bernardo 10 - KDB, Foden, Alvarez LW - Grealish, Foden, Doku RW - Bernardo, Foden, Doku 9 - Haaland, Alvarez Obviously...

    Cole Palmer

Because the other 4 are ahead of him…? He’s not starting ahead of Grealish, Doku, Foden or Bernardo on either side unless it’s the odd cup game.

    Cole Palmer

He’s the 5th choice winger at the club? The Doku signing eliminated most of his game time

    Cole Palmer

There was a heavy bidding competition for both those players. It’s not the same for Palmer outside a few loan offers and one £30m bid earlier in the summer. It’s a good deal no matter how you spin it

    Cole Palmer

You don’t think £45m for a 21 year old with less than 20 league appearances under his belt is a premium? They paid similar fees for far more experienced players in Sterling and Nkunku

    Cole Palmer

Lavia played more league games last season than Palmer has in his whole career. It’s a shame he’s going but £45m is good value

    Cole Palmer

He was the ready made replacement for Mahrez but I don’t see where he gets the game time to develop. Bernardo/Doku/Foden/Grealish are all ahead of him in the pecking order out wide. If I were in his shoes I’d be looking elsewhere

Joao Cancelo | Al Hilal Player

One of the most overrated players to ever put on a blue shirt

    Newcastle Thread - 2023/24

Great side but they can’t control games. A tempo setting DM and a reliable goalscorer out wide makes them a serious title threat, but right now they’re still in a top 4 hunt.

    Neymar

The first 3 seasons in Paris should’ve been his peak years and he played less than 20 league games all 3 years. Injuries robbed us of a true all time great. People mock him for being a play act but he was on the end of some truly brutal tackles in Ligue 1

    47 | Phil Foden - 2023/24

There are two things holding Foden back from taking that 8 role next to Rodri. 1. He does not play at a controlled tempo, which has been highlighted by Pep many times. 2. Defensively he is lightweight and his stamina/intensity is not at the same level as someone like Bernardo. He can play...

    Neymar

There’s nothing wrong with Jack’s personality, although it can be seen that there is considering the stories we’ve heard. All I’m saying is I think it’s a similar case for Neymar

    Neymar

How did you come to this conclusion? Can Grealish leaving Villa to win trophies and earn more money at City be viewed at the same thing? I’ve seen Grealish do both these things in a City shirt. I’m not bashing Grealish in any way. Neymar just gets a bad rap and his behaviour is no where near...

    Neymar

Nothing. But I wouldn’t describe either as consummate professionals

    Neymar

He’s no worse a personality than Grealish

    Neymar

Requested a transfer away from PSG. I’d honestly take the punt, he can still play at an elite level
