PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

In principle we get our costs of the issues we win on, they get their costs of the issues they win on. There are many variations on that theme however…

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Fair point, but in that respect it’s no different from any other company. Dividends are distributed out of profits. All companies have extra-ordinary expenses like legal fees from time to time which reduce the dividends that can be paid. That is just the lot of a shareholder. An organisation...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Doesn’t the money from the TV deals go to the PL before being distributed to the clubs? I had surmised matters such as merit payments would be made net of any operating costs (eg staff costs) and that legal fees would be treated in similar fashion. My bad if not!

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The PL is a separate company with an independent identity. We are not paying their costs save in the most indirect way.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The legal bills are the PL responsibility not that of the shareholders. It is likely they have insurance. If not, they are even more shambolic and disorganised that we already thought.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

You are responsible for your own costs but you may (usually will) if successful get an order that the other side should pay your costs. That however doesn’t mean the other side will pay all your costs, simply that proportion the court thinks was reasonably incurred. So if spend £1m pursuing a...

    Red Cafe in meltdown

Nor can I. Looks a lot like the top 3 will be us, dippers & Arse in whichever order. So they need Villa, Spurs and Newcastle to all have shit seasons AND for them to improve significantly. Can’t see it happening myself.

Is he on the panel? (The panel of potential appointees, not the actual tribunal)

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It may be it may not be. The issues differ from case to case so the constitution of the tribunal will differ also. In a case like this which is likely to involve a heavy legal component I would expect 3 KCs. Everton’s case was not so heavy on the law, so it isn’t surprising that their panel...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

If the UEFA judge voted irrespective of the evidence that tells you something about them, it tells you nothing whatsoever about the KCs who will make up the panel. They will have track records of 30+years of professionalism and integrity. That’s why they’re on the panel in the first place. If...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Not sure about that because before you get there you would have to have a criminal trial where the standard of proof is higher. I agree that in itself what is alleged is gaol-worthy, but the chances of it being proven to the criminal standard are vanishingly small

    Media discussion - 2024/25

And yet if you actually watched the game you’d have said this was a poor advert for the premier league between two teams who will be fighting it out for the lower European places. Neither will finish higher than sixth, nor lower than tenth. There were occasional glimpses of quality from both...
