The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Evening folks. An enjoyable little hiatus for me and an enjoyable week all in. Pixies were excellent, a few drinks had and amazingly no huge hangover was an added plus. A few days off work and an enjoyable meeting with my managers where they once again showed themselves up and painted themselves...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

NO! Thank you. Forget the scoring, its the fact that one person may have discovered/enjoyed something they wouldnt have heard before. That to me is what is wonderful about this. Its how I felt about Fantastic Negrito and to a degree Budos Band. Both wonderful "finds", that I doubt I would ever...

As ever thank you to @SPIDERBOY & @CTID1977 for your continued updates. I recall mention of possible pushes in Kherson with possible landings on Kinburn...has there been anythign else about this? Or radio silence?

I do love the strong feelings either way on all offerings that folks put forward. Its funny when you get such strident views, which is reinforced by the (almost) universal love in for Oasis. It always reminds me.... Talking Heads, just a band Oasis, just a band

And how much are you charging for a space on your sofa?

Apparently MCD stating that tickets ffor Croke Park will be around €87 which would mean sterling prices should be about £75. Lets hope its reasonable, but then they know that demand will be so high they could probably go for £200 each and would still sell out.

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Confess I had to have a quick google for "dark blue" city shirts and that one came up. Wife actually has little to no interest in football and never attended a game until I took her to see Wimbledon v Liverpool back in about 95'. Even now she just tuts when i say im watching football...usual...

What you trying to say there? You think she not pretty enough to be my wife? And think that hat was knitted after she saw the City "year of the rabbit" limited shirt

Thanks...and found them in the kitchen cupboard ...where the wife always bungs all paperwork left on the kitchen counter....It certainly wasnt me that put them there. Looking forward to it as I have to admit that this will be my first concert since I moved over here 25yrs ago. Spoilt for choice...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Cheers Eamon, I am delighted in the fact that it actually created a debate. I did love the whole back and forth and strong virews held by everyone in relation to Rob's "grenade" a few weeks back. I didn't necessarily expect that this week, but have enjoyed the differing views. As that whats life...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Have to say that I have enjoyed the widely different opinions on this one. Something that harks back to the diverse views for RH/OKComputer.The common thread being that they are both bands that are held in such high esteem by their fans. To get views such as those of @BimboBob are for me what...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

The comments made did make me start to think what offering would have to be put forward for me to score a 0 or 1. Having virtually no musical ability I would have to score something positively simply for the ability to play an instrument or hold any sort of note/tune. perhaps if it was an album...

I am often amazed at the ability of those who frequent this thread to write so wonderfully. To partake of a group listening and spend the time putting their thoughts down to share with others. In a busy world, the time and effort put in by your good self and the likes of @FogBlueInSanFran ...

    Donald Trump

What we over here would think to be just a very reasoned, sensible argument showing empathy for your neighbour and society......but over there you Sir are obviously a communist and a danger to the greatest country on earth. But...well said.

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

I do like the fact that not everyone likes/gets this one and do fully appreciate the contentious issue of live albums. It's almost as if we have returned to a discussion as per Radiohead! Apart from checking with Rob a few weeks ago about eligibility of live albums, it was down to this being...

Did also see REM when they played a "secret gig" at the Borderline as "Bingo Hand Job". Ended up standing next to Peter Buck whilst taking a piss.......Perhaps thats for a new thread..."Famous people you have stood next to when taking a piss" ...and NO...I didn't look

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

It seems almost like fate that @FogBlueInSanFran should have made his comments about the quality of a voice in realtion to the backing it receives immediately prior to my nominating this. As DB clearly isnt a top notch singer with huge range. Yet combined with the whole band it simply...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Fully appreciate that and it was something that I pondered about prior to deciding what I would put forward. My rationalisation being that it was live and therefore as valid as JLL. Whether scoring it or not, main thing is to take a little bit of pleasure from it...... Can I get a hallelujah?
