Huckabee, I think - the new ambassador to Israel.

    The British Monarchy

Queen's/King's/Prince's Consent is given on advice of the govt. It could be used to block a private member's bill, but again, the govt would have to advise for it. In 2014, there seemed to be 4 examples of it having happened (and thus led to the Bills being withdrawn, all on advice from the gov...

Isn't that his crypto coin Doge dog?

    The British Monarchy

They're not foodbanks. They're hubs to collect unused food from supermarkets/suppliers in order to send it to where it is useful - that does include foodbanks, but also charities, schools, etc. That seems to be a good thing to me, and rather baffling as to why it hasn't been done before.

3 years as AG, and then off to SCOTUS with him??

    Donald Trump

That is kind of how see it - strongarm the Senate immediately when Trump's not burned anyone yet. In a couple of years, some might be less willing as their terms run out.

Elon Musk buys and ruins Twitter

There seems to be quite a significant move to withdraw from Twitter since the election, and since Musk was given a US govt role (or a prospect of). Organisations, celebrities, quite a broad range. I think it's just a convenient break point - Twitter use has changed noticeably since Musk took...

    Donald Trump

Didn't the separation idea get rejected during Obama's time? He did appoint Homan, and Homan did come up with the idea, but I didn't think it was put into practice.

well, it could be a ploy to look as though Musk isn't in charge. I did say 'a little'! Bannon, wouldn't surprise anyone, I'd think.

US Presidential Election, Nov 5th 2024

Thune in as Senate leader, beating Musk's chosen one Rick Scott. Four years ago, he said that Trump should step aside. The TwitterXMuskosphere is already showing the "you're on notice" trash. Senators acting a little independently?

    Archbishop of Canterbury steps down

I think it says that the person(s) who told him it had been reported to the police hadn't actually done so.

If it happens, it's pretty blatant, isn't it?

    Donald Trump

From the little I've read, that's not the only thing. I wonder if he'll want a big name assassination to his name (not that Trump will allow anyone else to take credit).

    Donald Trump

Does the DoD or the Secretary of State run overseas military for the US? His Middle East position is pretty anti-Iran and pro-Israel from a quick look at his wikipedia page. "there's no reason why the miracle of the re-establishment of the Temple on the Temple Mount is not possible." (this...

    Assisted dying

The time available is largely down to it not being a government bill, isn't it? I thought that it had more than more backbench bills. What it doesn't have is the committee time to assess options with experts. My impression was that that is pretty standard for an independent bill.

    Assisted dying

That's what I think - it'll raise the questions more obviously, and recommendations can then be canvassed again. The downside for those who want it is that it will be a few years before the next go-round. I think in general that it's considered acceptable, but with great reservations regarding...
