This match is a useful reminder of what the CL final will look like if we don’t kill it off with some early goals. It will be a horrible affair.

The club in Prestbury will have it on. Not a millions miles away from Wilmslow. Botanist in Alderley will probably have it on, too.

I was only a teenager at the time so might be remembering incorrectly. But I recall an article before the 1999 CL final along the lines of "we are all United" which basically went on about how the whole country was behind United for the final. Hope I'm not misremembering it!

This is always a big thing for me. When I was a kid I always dreamt of a far-fetched future where City played a cup final at Wembley and, biggest of stretches, finished above United in the league. To to it for a full decade is just mind boggling. Long may it continue!
