Inter (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

It was a tedious game and I'm just glad I didn't pay good money to watch that. Football is supposed to be entertaining but that was dire to watch. I don't get the praise for Inter, they came to park the bus and hit us on the counter with a 'smash and grab'. If that was Arsenal, United or...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Funnily enough, I've been listening to this album quite a lot recently and was minded to nominate it myself! I had it on as I walked to an exercise class tonight ha ha! This album was the first album I listened to - as a kid in the early 80s. I loved putting my Dad's massive Wharfedale DD1...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

I love James Brown because he doesn't necessarily say words, he shouts and makes noises but it lands so well in the music that it makes it sound easy to do. But it isn't easy. Not sure if you've heard it but "Adriano Celentano - Prisencolinensinainciusol" is a song by an Italian (I think) who...

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I honestly don't care about the charges - it seems to me that lots of other clubs have been fined and it's almost become the norm. Forest, Everton, Leicester have been fined recently. Us, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs for trying to form a super league were fined. Chelsea have...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Personally, I am a hypocrite so for Question 1 I will say that lyrics don't matter to me and I find that sometimes they get in the way. It's something I've said on the ambient albums I've nominated! That said, if you're going to put a 'message' out there then make it legible. It might sound...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Sorry but this isn't for me I'm afraid. I think I'm pretty broad minded with music but I do think any great piece of music is either melodic, has a great rhythm, great hooks, sounds different or has great lyrics. It's not an exhaustive list though. However I think this album fails on all...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

Sorry I missed the Wet Dream review deadline but I thought it was a fantastic album. It is very Pink Floyd sounding obviously but that is no bad thing at all and no surprise seeing as he was part of the band. Many of the songs reminded me of Dark Side of the Moon. I can't quite explain it but...

What was the most toxic period at City?

100 per cent the Sealed Out era for me. I was only quite young and couldn't afford to go to many games but I was probably more afraid of getting caught up in a riot by City fans than anything the away fans could do! I still have my "Forward With Franny" badge somewhere! I hate Pearce with a...

    Oasis reunion

What bugs me is that this gig is at Heaton Park and I can't think of a worse venue. Getting there is a pain and getting back is even worse. The travel infrastructure just isn't set up to cater for 80k people there. The sound is terrible if you're near the back, the bars can't cope and the bogs...

    Oasis reunion

Managed to get the single ticket I needed for the Friday and took it on the chin and paid the 'on demand' price. I'm not paying for it but it's absolutely outrageous. GigsAndTours have some tickets but you have to be quick when you're on there.

    Oasis reunion

I'm surprised that See and GigsAndTours is still down and has been all day (for me). I get the 'we are busy page' but surely if people have had that for hours on end, some would give up? I'm on my last attempt now with TM... only a few thousand left to go!

    Oasis reunion

Got to the front of the queue and then got kicked back to the homepage where I could search for Oasis then asked to login to join a queue... sigh!

    Oasis reunion

Been trying now for over 2 hours and still about 88000th in the TM queue. See and Gigs sites are down for me and I'm getting a bit bored now :D

    Oasis reunion

I suspect it's the sheer demand of maybe towards 1 million people trying to hit their IT at the same on using multiple browsers and devices. I'd love to see the stats though as normally they are pretty reliable. The See and Gigs seem to be really struggling and keep going down completely...

    Oasis reunion

My brother got 4 tickets for the Friday but quite a few others have been kicked out of the queue and a couple got kicked when they tried to pay for them! We just need 1 more ticket for the first Friday... We've found that if you go through the link from Live Nation you at least get a number in...

How do you think they would fair against us?

Buying a Refurbished Macbook - any advice?

I'm a Windows man but I've bought a few refurb models online from Tier 1 Online (https://tier1online.com/). They do Macs but at the moment they are sold out though. I always buy Grade A or B and they've all been superb - literally like new and the packaging and delivery have been spot on. When...

The Album Review Club - Week #146 - (page 1935) - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen

As a general rule, I'm not a fan of live albums despite nominating one myself (Jerry Lee Lewis Live at the Star Club). I think it feels to me like I'm hearing other people having a good time rather than feeling like I'm there. However, I really like some of the versions on the album although...

Sven Goran Eriksson | Passes away from cancer aged 76 (p 32)

RIP Sven, a real gentleman. He did well enough with England and maybe if he'd had a touch more luck we might have really pushed for a final. How he kept his head up despite the constant hounding and undermining is beyond me. Given what we know now about phone hacking, it's a testament he didn't...
