I think that might be a bit out of date. Lots of defined benefit schemes are now 'average salary' rather than 'final', so using them interchangeably would cause confusion. The original point about someone on a defined benefit scheme being less concerned about the stock market does make sense...

The point I was making was that the changes weren't margin of error, they were definitely showing a trend. Whether the trend is real, is a different argument. I agree regarding clustering, but also the changes we're seeing are pretty minimal, and nothing like the final week of that 2017 general...
