City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Not quite, we voted in favour of the recommendations being implemented, we then voted against the rules overall being implemented and reserved the right to challenge the legality of the rules and the FMV process. We didn’t abstain at any point. Bear in mind it’s the principle itself of...

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

No, the elements related to ffp potentially could, but they’re a consequence of the main charges.

Surprised no one has done that challenge already. Must be a few considering it now!

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

We voted for the recommendation to be implemented that excluded them and then didn’t vote for the overall rules to be implemented. If we’d have thought at the time the principle of it was unlawful, we’d have surely abstained on voting for the recommendations.

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Yeah I’m not saying it’s a gotcha at all. Just to me I think at the time, we probably thought there were other aspects of it more likely to be considered unlawful. It’s not as if we didn’t challenge it on several avenues. The one bit I don’t get is if excluding shareholder loans is unlawful...

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Absolutely, your first sentence doesn’t detract from my point. We didn’t vote for the APT rules as a whole, we did vote to support the recommendations. It’s pretty clear that that either wasn’t our main reason for thinking the APT rules were unlawful at the time or we were playing an incredibly...

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Well, we did. We were part of the FCAG and didn’t challenge that particular recommendation at the time, we voted for the set to be included. We then subsequently voted against the implementation of the full set of APT rules. Like I said, if we did that knowing that particular recommendation...

    Brit stand up comics

I’d agree with all of that. Watched an interview with Billy Connelly recently where he was asked about who he likes nowadays and he said Stewart Lee and James Acaster. Izzard back in the day was just brilliant. I saw him in London once, around the time he was doing Glorious and was sat next to...

Yes I do need to be in the right mood for watching Lee but when I am, I think he’s absolutely superb and the cleverest comedian out there. It took me a while to get him due to that, now I love him. Someone said earlier in the thread he appeals to lefties. Thats part of why the act works so...

    Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

If he has a break, it won’t be because of the media. They were a lot more intrusive for him personally at both Bayern and Barca than they’ve been here. Personally I’ll be happy whatever he chooses to do. If he leaves, I’ll think enjoy a well deserved break and thank you for everything you’ve...

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Just on this point, I’m not sure that’s right is it? The advice for the 2021 rules was that it stood at least a good chance of resisting a sustained legal challenge. As much as that is hardly a ringing endorsement, that’s not advice that it was probably unlawful.

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

I just can’t comprehend any reason to do it, it surely was known it would backfire immediately.

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Great post. Does make me question why we voted for the shareholder loans being exempt recommendation though. Either at the time we thought other reasons were more likely for the rules to be considered unlawful, or that’s some proper 3d chess going on!

I can’t really work out how that happened if the PL knew at the time it was going back to the tribunal. There’s no rational reason for them to do it.

City launch legal action against the Premier League | City win APT case (pg901)

Not surprised by that, it needs to go back to the tribunal to sort before they can move forward.

Because we got better than that, Mansour invested equity.

Stewart Lee? He’s pretty big now in terms of his tours and audience size. Doesn’t really fit the act as much that he is, and he’s said that himself, so I’d probably agree with niche still.

There’s still a few comedians that just do purely joke routines too. Personally I only like them for shorter sets though as the hit count can be pretty low. Something like the comedians, you’ve got to remember that’s their best material.
