    Their disallowed goal did seem a bit odd - the ball was played to the Forest player ruled offside by a Newcastle defender and was very much not a deflection, it was a deliberate interception

    I can only think that he stopped the game to book Werner for dissent. Definitely a foul and a booking but wasn’t a goalscoring opportunity as the player was a mile away from the goal and heading towards the corner flag

    There were reports that City were offered a token slap on the wrist by UEFA before the two year Champions League ban was imposed and turned it down so either these reports were untrue or it’s quite possible there was a similar scenario this time round
