The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

Being a FOC I remember the version Somebody's Image headed by Russell Morris ( still recording and performing ) when it was released in 1967 and your Kris Ife who released it in the UK later in the year. Aussie artists in those days were often releasing cover songs to a predominately captive...

Struth our former players are tearing up the league this weekend.

Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Haven't been at our best but still undefeated and you could make a case for us being 6-0-0 in the league like we were last season. Obviously Rodri is a massive loss and Walker , Stones , KDB and Gundy ain't getting any younger. I am not as optimistic given the squad that we can be as...

    The Labour Government

Could and should last two terms before they are turfed out but arrogance , incompetence and mirroring the last years of a pathetic Conservative merry go round might mean they last only one term if that. A quick spiral to political death of its own making. Much like the pathetic Labour...

    Rodri solution

Our win ratio drops enough to suggest others will have to step up , he is definitely our most important cog in the wheel and without him our back four will be more exposed , I have little doubt we would have beaten Arsenal last Saturday and obtained a 5 point gap on them early on which would...

The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

They had 20 top 40 singles in Australia and multiple top 10 hits in Europe spanning some 16 years. 13 albums and yes wouldn't be known in the USA albeit they toured with Men At Work when they cracked the US market but I wouldn't describe them as one hit wonders.

The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

I really think they have to be in the conversation as one of the top / greatest bands in the pop/rock era not just the US but worldwide. BTW these are two amazing tracks if you like soul.

The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

There are many songs from NO that are better no matter what you look for in a good song than any song Oasis have brought to market and that is a fact (LOL).

The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

I read a fair bit about Robert Christgau and what he has to say and when you get to my age its difficult to explore everything and anything post 2000 so I listen to music recommended by critics I respect. He rates this band highly and I first listened to Funeral Dress having read his review...

The Bluemoon Song Cup 2024 Champion Is Hilts!

I am not but I agree they are underrated as do many I know over hear in Oz. They changed the way The Beatles saw themselves and in part decided to be a studio band, Some of their material is quite lame but still delivered with the right mix of humour and insight. There are not much better as...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

I think this is an album that I could get to like more as time passes by which is often the case for me albeit on the flip sides there have been albums that initially make an imprint but gradually slip away but the limit and inevitability of time at this juncture as mentioned earlier places it...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Early days for me albeit I actually have heard this record before and they flog her on RAGE over here. Reg blowing her trumpet as the next Dusty Springfield as he always does is perhaps not good news for CR does anybody remember Judie Tzuke? Fog's intro has taken me back to the Story Teller...

Sven Goran Eriksson | Passes away from cancer aged 76 (p 32)

Although expected its always with sorrow when good men pass on and clearly Sven was that despite perhaps a flawed penchant for the finer things in life. Enjoyed his time as City manager despite the divergence between good and bad and its brevity it wasn't boring that's for sure. We beat the...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Byrne was an innovator , post punk before we discovered it as such with other bands but like many frontmen he had a big ego and IMO believed he was TH , always the dominating feature in videos etc so much so that I was convinced of that at one stage myself. I really do love their best stuff...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

I like this thread because there is good discourse , frank and informative and eloquent at times detail and exchanges , new discoveries , you can read each post and often its fresh and enlightening and lacking the boring bile we get on the posts on mass in say some of the politics threads where...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

LOL Chronic Town is a masterpiece simple as , if I could only listen to 4 songs from a single piece of vinyl for the rest of my days this would go close. Anybody who thinks REM late and I mean Green onwards is more enjoyable to listen to and appreciate than their first 5 albums should listen...
