The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Cheers Fog , some of my favourite NO songs in that lot as you say 5 hours wouldn't do their catalogue justice. Hard to pick a favourite there are so many but if they played Thieves Like Us ( I know they didn't ) it would go close IMO one of their many masterpieces you can dance to and listen...

Will be a great gig at the Chase Centre , New Order are superb live IMO.

Nice to catch another live album I haven't listened to in many a decade (LOL). An old girlfriend of mine worshipped the ground Dylan walked on and while I didn't quite share her enthusiasm the memories of our time together are steeped in Dylan.

Not necessarily Saddleworth2 as I said for me I have always preferred to listen to and in the main bought albums by artists who compose their own music for a number of reasons least of all the talent required but that doesn't mean I don't admire and listen to music performed by the artists...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

No doubt cover songs diminish the overall quality of the album even if the original version of the song is not well known and you basically know the song from the cover version. In my case I feel a sense of disappointment if I hear a cover version of a song of the album even if its sung well and...

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

Funny I would rate it a 3 out of ten and for me that's a poor score perhaps the equivalent perhaps of a 1wo 2 from you (LOL). Maggie Bell drags the title track to listenable for me but you have to wait a while , its ok but not one I would lose any sleep over if I never heard it again.

I have a number of times but Tim Hardin's Reason to Believe my favourite song on the album is the only track on my playlist. Don't get me wrong I think Rod Stewart more than deserves to be recognised as a stalwart of the industry but I am not a huge fan.

Up with my favourites seen it many times. Harvest was one of the earliest albums I bought with my own money , I don't mind saying it was record I was always worried I would never get back when I lent it to friends as we did a lot of that in those days.

I have to agree with you regarding the hooks or dare I say on this album the riffs in sync with the lyric its structured well and I noticed it straight away on each song. I think it was Keith Richards who once said its the hooks that make the song what it is , great hooks make for a great song...

I must agree with you that the mandolin is an instrument I like hearing and noticed early how quick the notes diminish to silence much quicker than most other plucked instruments which is a part of the appeal. My favourite part of Tubular Bells one of the first albums I purchased and still in...

    FC Copenhagen (A) - Tue 11th Oct, 17:45 | Pre-Match Thread

if we win and Dortmund happen to lose then we can lose by one goal in Dortmund ( unless it is 1-0 ) and still top the group even if we lose our last game. You never want to get ahead of yourself in any competition but this IMO is the easiest group we have had to date.

The Album Review Club - Week #147 - (page 1942) - Blonde On Blonde - Bob Dylan

An excellent selection , loved the lyrics on most of the tracks and covers a number of genres all in one album which makes it all the more appealing. Country with a rock / Americana back beat is underrated IMO and this album has some wonderful breakdowns , smooth and free chord changes that...

Glad you have come across so to speak Fog and speaking of your name I would be staggered if you haven't listened to The Foggy Mountain Boys. One of the great things about music is that when you were in school growing up the things you would be chastised and bullied for listening to from your...

    Something’s changed

Lets enjoy it for what it is and yes a buzz is spot on as football is never predictable but as they say one game at a time. Its never a good thing IMO to get too far ahead of yourself for me I am happy just to be able to watch the game against Southampton from afar. We had some pretty good...

With the Arsenal game postponed albeit injuries are never good and hopefully Stones available for Liverpool its a decent run of games we have leading up to the World Cup starting with this one. Hopefully we can get back to a full squad after the World Cup.

Ditto had heard about her and I know the song but know little else about her which annoys me a tad as I should have given my passion for Country. AK words cannot describe how talented and engrossing she is to listen to and while Grammy awards for me are never a measure of talent , musicality...

Lets hope for a return immediately after the world cup as it seems likely he will miss our next 10 competitive games.

the year of Woodstock , I am envious Rob , you can always tell your grandchildren and hopefully great grandchildren you came alive when modern music festivals came alive.
